Full description

Explore the subtropical wilderness of the Everglades on an Everglades Day Safari. The safari includes narrated transportation from Fort Lauderdale to the four main ecosystems of the Everglades. Once in the Everglades board an airboat and glide across the "River-of-Grass" through the shallow waters of the sawgrass prairies. Returning to dry land, embark on a wildlife drive into Big Cypress National Preserve where we explore the ancient cypress swamps of the Everglades backcountry searching for alligators, turtles, and birds. Stroll through Big Cypress and see bromeliads, orchids, coco plums, and a wide variety of flora that make up the marshes and swamps of the wilderness. During the afternoon break you will enjoy an excellent lunch at a waterside restaurant in the heart of the Everglades. Selections range from grilled shrimp, blackened Mahi, fried chicken sandwiches, and burgers to salads. Finally, take a relaxing scenic boat ride into the mangrove forest of Everglades National Park. The cruise navigates the shallow, mangrove-lined waters of the 10,000 Islands looking for manatees, sea turtles, dolphins, osprey and a variety of other marine life thrive here.

It was a cold and rainy day, but we still had a great time and saw lots of animals and birds. Julio, our guide, was very knowledgeable, accommodating and caring! The boat guides were fantastic as well and made sure we all had a chance to observe the animals - we saw a lot of dolphins, as well as white and brown pelicans, and even saw a spoonbill.

We had an absolutely great day with our guide Marc! He was just able to explain so many plants, animals and events in the area to us. He was also able to answer every question we had in great detail. Marc is a very courteous, polite and funny guide who made this tour a top-class experience! Highly Recommended!!! Therefore 5 stars are a must!

Get ready for a packed day of learning and exploring! From the bus ride to the fan boat, hike, and boat ride the experiences were amazing. Plenty of wildlife and plant life to learn about. Our tour guide Marc had a wealth of knowledge and energy. Thoroughly enjoyed by all in my group.
