Full description

The Uffizi Gallery is a must-see when visiting Florence. Built in 1560 and known as the world's oldest museum, it was designed by the famous renaissance architect Giorgio Vasari. The grand duke of Tuscany Cosimo I de Medici decided to re-establish the authority of the Medici family.

After Cosimo I eliminated most of his rivals, he gave an office to the rest to keep an eye on them. In fact, Uffizi means offices. After his death, his children lost interest in politics. His eldest son, Francesco I, brought his private collection of artworks and made the Uffizi his private museum.

On this tour Uffizi tour, save time but also learn inside stories behind some of the most notable masterpieces conserved in Florence.

After your tour, enjoy some refreshments in the cafeteria on the Uffizi Gallery's terrace. Take in the unique views of the city, relax and take pictures.

The Travel Guide (Sylvia) was excellent. The company is a bit all over the place, and the office staff were somewhat rude. Still during crowded times, probably the best way to see the Uffizi. The art work and history of Florence were expertly explained and made the experience all that much better.

Julia was super fluent in English, and a great story teller! Although there were a lot of information to digest, she made it really easy to understand and we came out of the tour knowing much more about the history of Florence and the Medici family. She kept the whole 2 hours interesting and informative, 10/10 would recommend!
