Full description

Escape the hustle and bustle of Florence and experience the heart of Tuscany on this day trip from Florence. Ride in a spacious and air-conditioned van to the lush Val D’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Stop at wineries, stroll through local towns, and savor local cheese.

Hop aboard the comfortable bus at a centrally-located meeting point in Florence. Relax on the drive through the Tuscan countryside on the way to Montalcino. Try some world-renowned Brunello wine and stroll through the cellars and museum of a wine estate.

Hear about the history of this estate which once belonged to the powerful Piccolomini family, whose members included Pope Pius II. Move up to the peak of the town for views of rolling hills, ancient oaks, picturesque olive groves, vineyards, and cypress trees. Continue to Pienza, which stands high upon a hill and dominates the Orcia valley with extraordinary views. Explore the charming streets of this small town at your leisure.

Head to Montepulciano, home to the famous Vino Nobile vineyards where some of the vampire movie "New Moon" was shot. Sip on some wine while visiting the dungeon where the wine is stored under the ancient walls of the winery. Sample some Pecorino cheese and finally return by bus to Florence.

This tour was very nice in general, although you have to take into account that it is a large group (ours was around 40 people), so you should not expect a very personalized tour; however, it was a good experience at a fair price that I would recommend. Both the guide -Stanislava- and the driver -Roberto- were always very kind. In the comments, some users said that despite hiring the tour in Spanish, they only gave it in English, but in this case the guide translated everything. In Montepulciano we tried 3 very rich wines and 3 types of cheeses, the explanation was somewhat brief, do not expect something very specialized or large portions of pecorino. The time in Pienza was totally free (an hour and a half for lunch in which maybe some advice would have been nice), and finally in Montalcino we visited a winery where we tasted 2 delicious wines in the open air with an incredible Tuscan view Then everyone had free time to walk around the town.

Totalmente recomendable!

Tastings, but not only! I would have been to Montepulciano and Pienza even without it. On the other hand , not in Montalcino , shops and cafes closed , this Saturday 5th November afternoon , little to see there . Well organized tasting in Montepulciano. In Montalcino it was very cold outside, and the rosso was not necessary. Nothing to accompany the tasting, unwelcome at 4 p.m.!!! And village without interest, late afternoon not ideal.
