Full description
Avoid the queues into Florence's renowned Uffizi Gallery and enjoy an enlightening audio guide tour around one of the world's most celebrated collections of art. The handsome, 16th-century building, just a stone's throw from the banks of the River Arno, boasts some of Italy's most recognisable masterpieces. Originally designed by Giorgio Vasari, the gallery initially served as the offices for the Florentine magistrates, hence the name Uffizi, meaning “offices” in Italian. It now home to works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto, Cimabue, Masaccio, and many more. Amongst the highlights are Botticelli's famous Primavera and Birth of Venus. The latter, depicting the goddess of love's emergence from the sea, is a national treasure and the museum's icon – a crowning example of the Renaissance's masterful expression of beauty and spiritual purity.

The handover went smoothly, the accompanying person was easy to find and passed on all the relevant information. A short queue due to safety and health checks was not a problem. Due to the maximum number of people in the museum and the time slots, the museum is not overcrowded. The audio guide is technically outdated, but provides extensive information about the rooms and works of art. Overall a very nice experience and a strong recommendation for a visit to Florence! Some of the artworks are world famous. You can easily spend 3 hours or more in the museum. Due to the waiting times and limited number of people, I strongly recommend booking the tickets (at least 24 hours) in advance.

This is a great option to go with if you want a couple hours in the museum. It’s a big museum and we got to walk to the beat of our own drum and spend more time on things we wanted to vs a guided tour. Note: Go early!! We went at 9 and it was perfect. It starts getting super crowded at 10:00-11:00

It was great to get the tickets ahead of time to avoid the long line ups. The self guided audio tour was good and allowed for freedom to move away from crowds. Getting an early start is the way to go. By 10am, the rooms were crowded. The line up for coat check and audio pick up is confusing as the crowd of people all filter to the same line in a small area. Stay to the left of the coat check but right side of actual ticket collection desk to get the audio headphones. Finding the guide at the meeting point could be improved with a sign or marked t- shirt/ jacket. Overall, it was a great way to visit the Uffizi.
