Full description
The Uffizi Gallery is an absolute must when visiting Florence. Built in 1560 and known as the oldest museum in the world, it was designed by the famous renaissance architect Giorgio Vasari, but originally had a different purpose. The grand duke of Tuscany Cosimo I de Medici decided to re-establish the authority of the Medici family. The great industries of Florence such as wool, silk, and banking had a huge influence on the politics in Florence. After Cosimo I eliminated most of his rivals he decided to collect the rest of them in one single building and give an office to each of them. In fact, Uffizi means offices. Cosimo's idea was to keep his eyes and ears on all of them. After Cosimo's death, his children lost interest in politics. His eldest son, Francesco I, brought his private collection of art works and made the Uffizi his private museum. In this tour Uffizi tour with a professional guide, you will not only get the benefit of saving your time, but you will also acquire inside stories behind some of the most notable masterpieces conserved in Florence. After your Uffizi tour, you are welcome to enjoy some refreshments in the cafeteria on the Uffizi Gallery's terrace. Take in the unique views of the city, relax and take pictures.

Our guide, Maria was excellent. She was passionated about the tour and full of attention for her group. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the receptionist in Florence, she is rude and unpolied and seems very tired. We booked 2 tours with this agency and at the first tour ( bike) she was even to lazy to get up from her desk, no need to check our reservation, we felt unwelcome.

Excellent experience. The short walk from the agency to the Uffizi was filled with education about Florence, and the history do the di Medici family which helped set up the tour. The guide was excellent and paced the tour to match the interest of our small group of 7. What a remarkable collection of art and history. Might’ve worth doing a little earlier in the day so have time to spend more time after. Otis a huge collection and the guide can’t hit it all.

Our Skip-the-Line Uffizi Small Group Tour was wonderful! Our tour guide was very knowledgable and from the time we started walking from our meeting point, until our group was dismissed, she had lots of interesting facts to share about Florence and each piece of art we examined. The crowds were minimal for the Uzzifi (due to Covid) and we were able to see each masterpiece up close. We got so much more from the tour with all the guide's insights than if we had just walked around the gallery ourselves. Some notes to be aware of...the meeting point is some distance away, so be prepared to walk about a mile from there to the museum (but you'll get lots of guided facts about Florence along the way!). Once at the museum, you will skip-the-general admittance line, but you will wait in line for a short time. And you are on a timed tour...that means you won't stop in every single room to see every painting. The guide hits the highlights, with a few surprises here and there. It's a great tour!
