The tour started in San Gimignano, then Monteriggioni, a stop for lunch at a wine estate (Famiglia Mazzarrini), and then Siena. The time to visit San Gimignano is appropriate (around 2 hours of free time) and the city is very nice ... don’t miss trying the Ice Creams at the main square there! Monteriggioni could have been skipped for me, is a city behind walls that was built to protect Siena, but there isn’t much to be done there ... it was a 40 min stop that could have been 15. Then, lunch. The starters and the food itself was ok, but the wine tasting was poor (very little wine), and the person that was in charge of guiding us there was VERY ANNOYING! During lunch she was beating a corkscrew against a wine glass and screaming and calling attention all the time. Prices to purchase average wine and oil were high, it’s a trap. Then, Siena! Three free hours there were enough to discover the city. All in all, it’s quite worthy the price, just need some improvement on lunch hospitality.

This trip to San Gimignano, Siena, Monteriggioni and wine tasting was exactly what we were looking for. We had already taken a tour similar to this one so this time opted for no guided tours while in the cities. They did have options for guides and church entrances so our group was a mix of different itineraries. We had just over an hour in San Gimignano, which was still short for us, but not rushed - extra time here would be better, even just another 30 minutes. Siena was nice and this time we had time to enjoy lunch where we wanted and at our leisure. We had 3 hours and actually felt we had too much time after lunch and walking around so I'm thinking that shifting times a little could give more time for S.G. Monteriggioni is tiny so the 30 minutes is just right and the wine tasting was cool to learn about the different methods, taste some small batch wines and also taste olive oils and balsamic vinegar - we bought a 20 year one (it's such a cool process). Sarah and Mario were great!

Fantastic tour

Fantastic tour. Only improvement would be a little more time in San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. I think an extra 15 minutes in each and 30 minutes less in Siena. In Siena I had time to have lunch, climb the tower and walk around the historic parts of the town and still had 30 minutes spare. Wine and cheese tasting was brilliant
