Take a walk through medieval San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit a local wine producer, and taste fine wines, including the famous Vernaccia. Enjoy a full Tuscan lunch before visiting another typical medieval village and another winery.
What to Expect
Visit the medieval town of San Gimignano, a World Heritage Site known as the Manhattan of the Middle Ages, due to its many tower. This will be the first stop on your 10-hour tour.
Admire the perfectly preserved medieval village and stop at the terraces to take in views of the surrounding hills, where some of the highest quality of saffron in the world is produced.
Following the walking tour you’ll stop to visit a wine producer’s cellars and taste local wines, including the famous Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, the first Italian wine to receive the Designation of Origin Guaranteed and Controlled distinction. You’ll also enjoy a typical Tuscan lunch.
In the afternoon you’ll stop at another medieval village (Monteriggioni or Colle val d’Elsa) and visit a wine producer in the Chianti region. You’ll have a chance to taste local wines and Tuscan extra-virgin olive oil.
Visiting the farms will not be just a quick stop for a glass of wine, but a real intercultural experience.
