Full description
Discover the genius of one of the greatest artists of all time, Michelangelo, through his numerous sculptures at the unmissable Accademia Gallery. Make the most of your visit to Florence with a skip-the-line ticket to the gallery. Enter the museum quickly and painlessly, and enjoy more time to appreciate the art. Inside, admire Michelangelo's David and see how his expression changes as you walk across the room. Marvel at the detail of this famous sculpture, chiseled from a single piece of marble. Find out for yourself why David has captivated generations the world over. David represents a biblical hero winning against Goliath, symbolizing the defense of civil liberties embodied in the Republic of Florence, an independent city in the Medieval and Renaissance Period. In addition, experience other sculptures carved by Michelangelo such as "I Prigioni" (the Prisoners). These contorted bodies were meant for the tomb of Pope Julius II, but the tomb was never completed. Explore the museum further and see statues and paintings by other Renaissance artists such as Andrea Orcagna, Taddeo Gaddi, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Filippino Lippi, and Sandro Botticelli. Make sure not to miss the hall dedicated to the collection of old musical instruments, home to a violin designed by Antonio Stradivarius.

Met our contacts outside the entrance. They had our names on their list, made sure we had our tickets (downloaded to phone was nice) and put us in the correct line to get in at our appt. This was a self-guided tour so once they made sure we were good, we went on in from there. Easy! And communication through email beforehand was nice.

This was such a great tour. Our guide, Alexandra Bini was fantastic, she was so well informed, helpful and passionate about the artwork on display, teaching us all about the art in a way that kept it interesting from start to finish. Even after the allotted tour time had finished, she still took the time to show us more art within the gallery and explain the ethos of the artists, which made the experience all the better. Thank you so much Alessandra for a fantastic afternoon!

The skip the line process is very seamless. Including having to verify ones vaccination status. Once inside the David is mind blowing. It pays to do the skip the Line at earliest. The galleries fill up very quickly. Also the temporary galleries of late gothic and early Renaissance works of art…loved the intimacy of it
