Spend a pleasant day traveling along the Terracotta Way in Tuscany. Participate in a workshop with a terracotta master and visit the village of Greve in the Chianti Classico region. Taste organic wines at a local winery, and enjoy a typical Tuscan lunch.
What to Expect
Terracotta has been a part of Tuscan art for centuries, notably during the Renaissance with the construction, for instance, of Brunelleschi’s beautiful dome of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence. For Tuscany the art of terracotta is both an important part of its heritage and a primary element of its cultural identity.
Assist artisans with their work and participate in a workshop, learning some tips on how one becomes a master terracotta artisan.
Later, on this full-day excursion, you’ll visit Greve, one of the most famous villages in the Chianti Classico area, before stopping at the winery of a small producer. You’ll be entertained by his stories while you enjoy a typical Tuscian lunch accompanied by wine and products from the land.
After lunch, head to Castellina in Chianti for a short walk and a coffee break. The town of Castellina, of Etruscan origin, is located at the crossroads of the major valleys of this area: Arbia, Elsa, and Pesa.
On the way back to your accommodation, you’ll stop to visit another small producer to enjoy a second wine tasting.
