Full description

Take some time to enjoy a region rich in refined winemaking and cultural treasures on a private day trip to the enchanting wine region of Montalcino. Visit 3 family-run wineries and the medieval town of Montalcino. Taste a range of wines, and savor a traditional Tuscan lunch.

Get picked up at your accommodation in Florence and meet your sommelier guide for the day. Then, head out into the Tuscan countryside to explore a region that has been producing red wines since the 15th century.

Upon arrival in Montalcino, discover 3 family-run wineries and the famed Brunello di Montalcino, a distinctive red wine with Italy's highest DOCG that is produced from a local Tuscan type of Sangiovese. Learn about and compare the different styles of winemaking with your guide.

Enjoy wine tastings at each of the scenic properties, which will include Brunello and other regional wines like Rosso di Montalcino, as well as a Tuscan lunch made from local products and specialties. At the end of your tasting journey, return to Florence for drop-off at your accommodation.

Brunello tour review As lovers of Brunello, my girlfriend and I knew we had to go to Montalcino for a day during our trip to Florence. We ended up choosing this experience so that we did not have to worry about getting to Montalcino from Florence and back. We were not disappointed and I cannot speak highly enough of our guide, Angel. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wines of Montalcino, as well various other regions around the globe. He brought us to three different wineries (small, large, and massive) that all had different microclimates and soil variations to show us how it all impacts the wine. We toured the vineyard, fermentation rooms, and cellars at all three wineries. We tried 20 wines in total during the day! At the second winery (the largest in Montalcino) we had an excellent lunch pairing as well. If you are in Florence and a lover of Montalcino wines, this experience is a must! Angel was an exceptional guide; thank you for a great day!
