Full description

A visit to the cupola of the Florence Duomo is a must-do, but with it comes big crowds and long lines. Gain priority access to the Dome with your guide, climb to the top, and soak up the spectacular views of the city. It’s the perfect way to see Florence. Meet your guide and climb to the top, courtesy of your priority entrance. Hear how the construction of the Duomo began at the end of the 13th century and took 2 centuries to complete. Marvel at the marble floors but don't forget to look up - the frescoes above are just as immense. After your tour of the Dome, feel free to explore the rest of the five sites as your ticket for the complex will be valid for 3 days. After exiting the Cathedral, you can line up to re-enter the Cathedral and explore in your own time.

Important information

Know before you go

  • Wear clothes that cover your shoulders and knees as the Cathedral has a strict dress code. You may be refused entry if not properly dressed
  • There are 463 steps to climb up, and there is no elevator. Please wear comfortable shoes.
  • Note that the climb up the Dome is very steep and narrow in some places
  • Please note that headset worn to hear the guide does not work when climbing up the tower, due to the thick walls
  •  After the tour of the Dome, you will have to exit the Cathedral. If you would like to revisit the Cathedral after the tour, you will need to join the normal line. Entrance is free of charge.

The tour said it was an hour long and ended up being at least an hour and a half which is a little troublesome for tourists who are in a hurry. My tour was at 10am and was pushed to 11am the weekend before the tour and was not able to access internet or wifi to fix my plans made after the tour. Because of this, I ended up missing my train and spending a lot more money than I should have later on. Besides this issue, the tour was wonderful and my tour guide was super helpful and knowledgeable.

This tour was absolutely wonderful! Our guide was very informative and did and excellent job of showing us things most people would not notice as we well as answering all of our questions. I loved this tour because your guide takes you to the top, explaining everything along the way and once you get to the top the tour is over so you have the ability to stay as long as you won't. The only confusing thing was the actual tour company changed the time (which was fine for our schedule luckily) but GetYourGuide did not get this update so all of their emails and reminders kept the original time which is a little confusing.

Let me start with the best part; Manuel (our guide) was fantastic. Charming, charismatic & knowledgeable, he made the climb very interesting and kept checking on all of us. Manuel on his own made up for the subpar administration system that had us searching the entire street for the meet-up spot. The two gentlemen who seem to be organizers where all over the place - didn't have our names on arrival & they weren't visible enough. Manuel is superb but the organizers need to do better.
