What to Expect
On this full-day trip you’ll travel north from Rome, crossing the green Tiber valley. You’ll pass by the slopes of the Apennines, covered with olive groves and vineyards, and through the famous Chianti region en route to Florence.

Meet your local guide across the Accademia Museum and begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Accademia, where you’ll have the opportunity to see some of Michelangelo's greatest works, including the masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture, David.
Your guide will then take you along the historical streets of Renaissance Florence until you reach the city’s religious center dominated by the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, topped by Brunelleschi's dome.
Other treasures to discover in the central square are the Baptistery and the famous Campanile or Bell Tower by Giotto. Walk with your guide along Via dei Calzaiuoli to the Piazza della Signoria, the center of political life in Florence.
This is the heart of Florence, an open-air museum surrounded by works of art from a number of historical eras. Learn about the buildings and statues that make this one of the most beautiful squares in Italy.
Enjoy a break for lunch at a typical Florentine restaurant before resuming your walk and making your way to Piazza Santa Croce, where great artists such as Michelangelo are buried.
Visit a leather shop and admire one of Florence’s traditional crafts. You’ll have some free time to see the work of local goldsmiths and other traditional craftsmen as well.
