Full description

Get a taste of 'la dolce vita' on this jam-packed tour to the Cinque Terre, a collection of quintessential Italian towns dotted along the coast of Tuscany.

After meeting your guide in central Florence, listen to an insightful introduction about the Cinque Terre on the 2-hour bus journey to La Spezia. After a quick bathroom break, board the first train of the day. Arrive in Manarola, the first of the Cinque Terre villages you will visit. Here you will join a small guided walk through the vines, and then enjoy some free time to explore at your own pace. Next, take the train to Corniglia.

Climb the steps to reach the center of the quaint village and wander around. Then, choose to either go on a guided hike to Vernazza, or if you prefer to take it easy, follow your guide and take a train instead. Once in Vernazza, sit at one of the local cafés, or take a dip in the sea.

Next, board a train to Monterosso, the village renowned for its beautiful beaches and artisan shops. If the weather allows it, you will then board a boat to navigate along the coast of the Cinque Terre.

Arrive in Riomaggiore, an ancient fishing village and the most southern of the 5 villages. After exploring this last village, board the train back to La Spezia and then take the coach back to Florence.

Victoria and Marco were excellent tour guides! They were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and answered all our questions. The bus ride to La Spezia was smooth, and the train to Cinque Terre was easy. We went to all villages, but spent the most time in Vernazza, which honestly was the most idyllic out of the five and how I imagined Cinque Terre to be. There is an optional hike, which you can decide that day if you want to partake, and also an optional lunch with the group (€17.50) which included a starter, main course (get the pesto!), and water. It was cloudy and a little rainy on the day of our trip, but somehow our boat ride did not get canceled. While the boat ride was rocky, the views of the villages from the coast were worth it, especially seeing Riomaggiore from the sea. I wish we had more time in Riomaggiore to swim as it was sunny by late afternoon, but I guess it is another reason to come back to Cinque Terre. Would highly recommend this trip!

The day trip to Cinque Terre was wonderful. Our guides Victoria and Chiara were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The bus ride was smooth and went quickly with the bits of information and history along with the plan for the day. Visiting each of the 5 villages was amazing as they’re so unique and the hike was well worth doing - difficult in parts but overall quite manageable. There was A LOT of walking which we were prepared for but good to keep in mind that appropriate shoes make all the difference. We found our own lunch rather than join the group and our guides pointed out their recommendations which proved to be delicious. Amazing trip that we would definitely do again!

This tour was amazing! Mid September, perfect weather, little rain at the end but it was welcomed. Our tour guides Chris, David, Felipe the driver and the Xtra one who came later to help were outstanding! They were patient, knowledgeable? funny and really enjoy their job by the way they took care of us. Chris was a trooper who went above & beyond even though he got hurt & his colleagues as well for picking up the slack. Cinque Terre is an amazing tour I recommend, lots of up/downhill walking and steps but we'll worth it. Bring good walking shoes, bring your sense of humor, be ready for changes in the itinerary, be patient. The tour guides are awesome and know what they are doing, follow what they say and always be on time. The views alone are worth every penny. Thank you Walkabout tours!!
