Full description
If you’d like to explore the Accademia Gallery in total freedom and at your own pace, this audioguided tour is the perfect choice. You’ll enjoy priority admission to this popular art museum and discover its treasures with the help of commentary recorded by an expert art historian – in your preferred language. On this 90-minute tour you’ll become immersed in the art of Michelangelo and get to know his most renowned works, including the David, I Prigioni, San Matteo, and Palestrina Pietà. The David is undoubtedly the highlight of the visit. Young Michelangelo sculpted the figure from a huge block of rough marble over a period of 3 years, creating an imposing work of beauty that is an icon of the Renaissance. He depicted a magnificent nude young man at the height of his physical vigor, possessing intense strength and courage that originated from an absolute faith in God. This became a symbol of the power and invincibility of the Florentine Republic at its peak.

Thank goodness we had booked the early tour at 10.30 a.m., it worked without queuing. When we left the museum around 1:30 pm the queue "Skip the Line" was considerable. In front of the museum, the organizer provided us with our voucher for our audio guides, but in the museum we would have liked a little more guidance. Especially at the beginning it was pretty confusing. Then it worked quite well.

We went to the admissions line for those with reservations. After a puzzled look at our confirmation, we were referred to “the man in the blue jacket”. There was a long line to get a voucher from him, and by then another line at the confirmed admissions line, behind tour groups. It would have been nice to be informed ahead regarding what to do with the confirmation.

Everything was smooth—once you are able to find the point person you are expected to meet up with. Instructions to do so are not thorough enough, as there are multiple places for lines and groups and tons of people. Make it more obvious who to look for and describe it more in the app instructions. Otherwise everything went smoothly.
