This full-day tour with a private guide from Fes will show you the nearby imperial city of Meknes, as well as the well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis. See some of Morocco's highlights on this relaxed and stress-free tour.
What to Expect
You will be collected from your accommodation in Fes at 08:30, to begin the 1.5-hour drive to Volubilis. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest of its kind in North Africa and very well-preserved. It lies in a strategic position about 33 km north of Meknes, and is over 2,000 years old. You can explore this fascinating site on your own or with a local guide (extra cost). There is also a new museum on-site.
After Volubilis, your driver will take you to Meknes, where you will enjoy lunch before the walking tour starts. Meknes, once the capital of Morocco, is a historic city full of life. The souks are spacious, and the beautiful gate of Bab el-Mansour at the Place el Hedim is perhaps the most beautiful of all the gates of Morocco's imperial cities. Visit the mausoleum of Mulay Ismail. After the tour, you will be returned to your hotel in Fes by late afternoon.
