Full description

Take a multi-day trip through the Atlas Mountains to the Sahara desert departing from Fes. Admire the beautiful scenery, enjoy traditional Berber culture and cuisine, and visit a variety of charming villages across 3 days. Drive through a cedar forest and see the resident monkeys, before descending to the Sahara Desert. Arrive at the traditional kasbah at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy the beauty of the sunset on a camel ride across the dunes. At the Berber camp, dinner, gaze at the stars and spend the night in a tent. On the second day visit Merzouga, Tinghir and Ouarzazate. Head out on the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs along the ancient caravan route. This area has been a popular location for Hollywood films, such as The Last Temptation of Christ and Jewel of the Nile. Stop for lunch and a walk in Todgha Gorges and then travel through the Dadès Valley past dramatic escarpments. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in the Gorges or in Ouarzazate. On the third day, visit the town of Ouarzazate, including the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios – the largest and most famous movie studios in Africa.

We were picked up in Fez & our driver was Hassan. He was absolutely top notch. He spoke both English & French for our small group of 9. We stopped on the first day at many places like Ifrane, the monkeys, the biggest oasis, scarves for the desert. We arrived in Merzouga just in time for our sunset camel ride. We had dinner that night with a big group & then watched the Amazigh sing & play music by the fire. We stayed in a luxury tent equipped with AC. The next day we saw Todgha gorge & Rissani town. Finally on our last day we saw Atlas studios & Ait Ben Hoddou which I would have loved another hour to spend getting lost there. Our drivers Hassan & Yunis were incredible, cannot be faulted. This is great value for money & we were very comfortable everywhere we stayed.

It was an unforgettable trip, great value for the price. We travelled in a company of cool and nice people, most of them were french- and english speaking. The trip's highlights for us were Atlas movie studio, Camel riding and, of course, night in Sahara in a Berbers camp. The most beautiful night sky full of stars I've ever seen was definetely during this trip, in Sahara. Also, big respect to our drivers Hassan and Yunis. It's thanks to them we managed to travel so many kilometers safely and could see many exciting places.
