Full description

Experience the beauty and wild side of Alaska. Yanking on their lines and ready to run, your dog team will be anxious to carry you away from your Fairbanks accommodation to this spectacular viewing of the Northern Lights.

Most of the sled ride takes place in an open area so should the Aurora begin early you will have a thrilling view of the sky from the dogsled. The Aurora Borealis is one of the planet's most breathtaking phenomena. In Alaska, a land that stays dark for most of the winter, these spectacular lights bring the sky to life with other-worldly colors that shimmer and dance across the sky.

The yurt is only a short drive from Fairbanks but far from the obstructing glare of city lights. Be treated to a hearty midnight dinner in an off-the-grid yurt.  Stay warm with hot drinks and lively conversation in the comfort of your yurt while waiting for the Aurora. The large north-facing windows of your yurt offer the perfect Aurora viewing opportunity.

However, should you decide to go outside for photographs or a full view of the sky, you will need to dress in warm layers.

This was by far the best thing we did while in Fairbanks. Joe was our driver and was on time as well as sociable and knowledgeable about the area. Our musher was Jared. He was friendly and told us about caring for the dogs and some about the dog sled teams from the area. We were allowed to pet and visit the dogs in the yard while they were being hooked up to the sleds. I was surprised the ride was smooth. The views were spectacular with the moonlight. Once back at the yurt we had a fantastic meal of salad, salmon, asparagus, rice, wine, and apple pie with ice cream for dessert. The yurt was warm and the staff were friendly and kind. After dinner we were fortunate enough to have the lights come out for about an hour. This was a magical experience I will remember for a lifetime.

Five stars all the way! This experience was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. The nighttime dog mushing was an amazing way to see the dogs do what they love - running. The owner of the property and kennel was our musher. He called our Aurora experience a nighttime rainbow, which is the best way I know to describe the green light display we saw that night. There was another musher named Jody, who took the other couple on our tour out. Jody is a native Alaskan and had interesting stories to tell. The driver from our hotel and back, Joe, was from Alaska and told stories of his life growing up and living in AK. The food was good and the right amount for midnight meal. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone considering a trip to Fairbanks. You don’t chase the northern lights on this tour, which we also did and also enjoyed. You do have a welcoming visit with Alaskans who want to welcome you to their home and their life.
