It was a great experience, our guide Don has a profound knowledge of the flora and fauna and explained a lottery well. We would have loved to see more animals, esp alligators. But the tour just before us may have chased them away. Maybe plan more space between tours.

Like others said previously it is much more of a nature / observing experience. You will start and stop a lot but Don the guide is extremely knowledgeable and engaging. We saw multiple alligators up close and navigating through the channel was challenging but fun. You do have to go under a bridge initially (lay down in your canoe and use your hands to move yourself) so be prepped. Not hard but a bit nerve-racking if you’ve never kayaked. WEAR STUFF THAT COVERS YOU FROM BUGS. The mangrove was absolutely stunning but the bugs legitimately attack you in there. We put towels over our legs and were drenched in bug spray but they didn’t care - the mangroves were the worst. Cover yourself - you will be hot anyways so you might as well not get eaten. Well worth it! Just be prepped to be hot and sweaty no matter what and come prepared :)

We’re really glad we booked the kayaking. Another person had dropped out so my husband and I ended up having a private tour 😊 Don was very knowledgable and pointed out any special flowers or birds. We had never done kayaking before so it took us a bit of time to get in sync with each other. It helped that we were in a tandem kayak as my shoulders started aching a bit towards the end as we’re not used to it. It was very peaceful and highly recommended when visiting the Everglades.
