  • See a variety of flora and fauna in Florida's beautiful Everglades National Park
  • Float through this unique ecosystem on creeks, lakes, and through mangrove jungles
Full description
The Everglades area is home to a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America. The unique Everglades lakes, surrounded by mangroves, are refuges and nursery grounds for herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills, alligators, otters, and a variety of cute little fish. The Everglades National Park Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Eco-Tour takes you inside the unique mangrove ecosystem in a stable "sit-on-top" kayak (no previous experience required). Weave through the interconnecting, narrow lakes and flowing tidal creeks. Float through tunnels in the mangrove forest, created by the dense mangrove growth up the edges and even over the tops of the interlocking creeks and narrow lakes. The mangrove tunnels make for a surreal and mystical experience with the sunlight shimmering through the canopy, the stillness of the forest vegetation and the sounds of the forest itself. Enjoy learning a wealth of information on the colorful local history of Everglades National Park and its wonderful wildlife and flora.

This was a very educational and entertaining trip. Our guide, Don, was amazingly knowledgeable and obviously in love with the Everglades and Big Cypress parks. We saw not one, but two alligators, which is now a tale my grandson can tell. Really good stuff! NOTE: Buy the best bug juice you can. There are a LOT of hungry mosquitos.

Our tour guide, Don, was very knowledgeable and interactive. The kayaking itself was fun and a great experience. We were personally looking for something a little more unique than the typical air boat ride. Kayaking allowed us to get close to the alligators while still observing from a safe and respectable distance. Don included a lot of information about the wildlife and his personal experiences. Would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Our guide really knew his stuff! We learned a lot about the plants in the area. He was very forthcoming with his knowledge! The trip itself was very good! The tour was advertised for all abilities. As such, the pace was a bit slow for experienced kayakers but excellent for beginners.
