Brussels: Art Nouveau Walking Tour with a Local Guide

Brussels: Art Nouveau Walking Tour with a Local Guide

Discover the most beautiful buildings of the ephemeral fairytale of the Belle Époque on a guided walking tour. Explore the splendid creations of the famous architect Victor Horta, as well as other magnificent houses by lesser-known but equally talented architects. Meet your guide, Eric, who knows his city like the back of his hand, and set off to the historic center of Brussels, which is packed with world-famous treasures. Then, head to lesser-known districts to discover hidden gems that the vast majority of tourists are unaware of. Travel through Etterbeek, Schaerbeek, Ixelles, and St Gilles, home to some of the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings. Marvel at the marvellous houses, privileged witnesses to a time when everything was possible, and when the creativity and ingenuity of Art Nouveau architects knew no bounds. Discover some of these jewels, some unchanged since they were built, others magnificently renovated, and still others bearing the charm of over a century of existence. But all are privileged witnesses to a wonderful era. If you wish, the walk can include a meal (not included) in a period Art Nouveau restaurant, with its surprising and moving décor, almost unchanged for over a century.

Excellent initiative to visit the jewels of Brussels Art Nouveau through the architectural prowess of its monuments (Belgian Comics Museum (CBBD); the Horta gallery, Maison Gauche HUIS for example, passes can be collected at the Hotel city of Brussels, (located at Grande Place); a guide with the places accessible with the Pass (for 3 places of your choice) will be given to you (the Horta Museum, requiring a reservation through the museum website at least 2 weeks before advance, because very popular!), I did not have the opportunity to visit; but the Pass (composed of 3 tickets) is valid for 9 months after physical collection! The CBBD (Belgian comic strip center is valid with this pass !!) Enjoy your trip to the land of Art Deco!

Thanks again, Eric, for your great tour on Art Nouveau. I was already very happy that I found one, because at first it seemed like a no-go despite the fact that Brussels is the capital of this style. For more than 3 hours we visited several places while traveling by public transport and saw a great number of splendid Art Nouveau houses, eloquent witnesses of their time. Being a passionate about this style, I couldn't stop taking pictures until my phone died right in front of the last house :). How quickly time flies when you are in good company and you learn a lot of interesting things!

We are not travelers... Belgian at heart, we are proud of the heritage left by the architect-artists of Art Nouveau. THANKS. I personally knew Jean Delhaye who fought to save the house of his master Horta, with the help of the commune of Saint Gilles.

Eric shares his knowledge, his love of his city and his unrestricted good humor. We discovered new art and learned a lot of things with him. We highly recommend the experience.
