This full-day tour of the mighty Danube is ideal for people who want to combine history with nature and would like to enjoy some of the most beautiful countrysides in Hungary. You will see historic monuments and art memorials while your guide provides a lively narrative of Hungarian life. At Esztergom, the northern gate of Budapest, you will pause at the largest cathedral in the country and see the burial sites of famous cardinals as you gaze across the water towards Slovakia. Cross the river and border into Slovakia to see the stunning view from the opposite side.  You will visit the city Visegrád where you will learn about life in the Middle Ages while enjoying spectacular views of the Danube Valley. Additionally, this is the city where you will be provided with your lunch, a 3-course Hungarian meal. You will stop at the artists' village in Szentendre, a baroque city located where the Danube River meets the Pilis Mountains. Wander the narrow streets to soak up the magical atmosphere and catch panoramic vistas of the river. Browse the shops of the village before the return journey to Budapest. Travel from 21st May until 31st October will be on a relaxing boat cruise, a fitting way to arrive back in the city center. Between the 11st of September- 31st October, and in case of low/high water levels, the return to Budapest will be by bus.

On this unforgettable tour along the Danube, make stops in Visegrád, Esztergom, and Szentendre. Explore the architecture and history of the places you visit alongside a guide. See the Danube Bend and walk along medieval narrow streets. In Visegrád, walk close to the 750-year-old stones of the former Royal Residence (entry fee not included). Learn about life in the Middle Ages, and enjoy the fascinating panorama of the Danube valley. At Esztergom, the northern gate of Budapest, stands the center of the Catholic Church. Visit the largest cathedral in Hungary and the burial place of the country's most famous cardinals such as Primate József Mindszenty. Afterward, stop to enjoy the view over Slovakia across the river. On the way back, stop by the artist's village of Szentendre. It is a small baroque city at the gate of the Danube Bend, at the meeting place of the Danube River and the Pilis Mountains, situated in a beautiful natural environment. Walk around the baroque settlement, built on medieval ruins, and go up the narrow streets to a panorama point to look out over the Danube. Enjoy the special atmosphere of this village before the trip concludes.

Journey through Hungary's history, experience a unique section of the River Danube, commonly referred to as the ”Danube Bend”. Start off by seeing the city of Esztergom from another perspective during a photo stop in Slovakia. Then head out in the comfort of an air-conditioned bus and enjoy the remarkable city of Esztergom, home to the largest Catholic church in the country. In addition to experiencing a great view of river valley, you will also have time to enjoy a 3-course lunch in the city of Visegrád. Afterwards, you will continue to the magical artist’s village of Szentendre, where your guide will show you the downtown area with its cobblestone streets. At the end of the tour, return to Budapest either by boat on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (from 15th May to 31st October) or by bus on every Wednesday (from 15th May to 31st October). In case of extremely low or high water level on the River Danube, the return to Budapest will be by bus as well.

Head to Slovakia to see the great view from the River Bank and see the old Turkis Church ruins. Make several stops by the Danube river where nature dominates. Continue your journey and head towards the small town of Visegrd, where you can visit the famous Royal Castle and the home of the renowned yearly Knights' Tournament at the Lower Castle. Enjoy a reallyreally great 3-course lunch Á'lá Carte at a traditional restaurant as you like! Then, begin to make your way back, to Budapest. The last stop of the tour is in the beautiful town of Szentendre. Enjoy a guided walking tour through Szentendre's baroque town center and enjoy shopping for some souvenirs.

Start your day with a pickup from your hotel in Budapest. After passing by the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Acquincum, continue to the charming town of Szentendre, a picturesque artsy gem with a true Mediterranean touch. Explore the town's narrow streets and colorful houses, including the popular "Umbrella Street". Visit the local shops and galleries, including the famous Szamos Marcipan Manifacture and Museum, where sweet dreams come to life! Here, you'll have a chance to marvel at unique exhibits like a jaw-dropping 78-kilogram life-sized marzipan woman and, of course, pick up some delicious marzipan treats to take home. Next, head to Visegrád, a small town with a rich history. Visit the town's medieval castle and enjoy panoramic views of the Danube River (the famous Danube Bend panorama). (Please note that between December 1 - December 23, and January 13 - February 28, the castle is only open on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays. Between December 26 - January 12, and March 1 - November 31, the castle is open every day.) Visegrád’s hidden gem, the Pilis Biosphere Reserve, offers unique vegetation, meandering creeks, cascading waterfalls, and trout-filled lakes. You can taste freshly caught trout or local game at a cozy forest restaurant (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays), with other lunch spots nearby. Towering over Esztergom, Hungary, the Esztergom Basilica is a sight to behold. As the largest church in the country, it boasts a grand neoclassical design, a massive dome (one of the biggest in the world), and a rich history. Built on the site of earlier churches dating back to King Stephen I, it's the seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary and offers stunning views and a deep connection to Hungarian history. If you’re into art, we can visit the Esztergom Christian Museum—Hungary’s top church collection—home to stunning European and Hungarian masterpieces like Thomas de Coloswar’s Calvary Altar, the Garamszentbenedek Lord's Coffin, and works by “Master MS.” From Esztergom, we will cross to Slovakia (there's no border control, but have some kind of ID on you just in case), take great photos of the Basilica with the Danube from the other side, and return to Budapest through Nagymaros/Verőce/Vác. In Nagymaros, you can have a stunning view of the Visegrád Castle and the Danube Bend - a scenic spot very few tour operators do. In Verőce, we’ll make a brief stop to see a unique riverside retaining wall system, originally designed by renowned architect Miklós Ybl—a rare and charming sight along the Hungarian Danube that most tours overlook. Finally, in Vác you can admire a real arch of triumph built for Austro-Hungarian emress Maria Theresa herself, as well as the imposing local basilica, before returning to Budapest.

Our friendly staff will deliver your bike to your accommodation in Vienna. The vehicle will be adjusted to suit your needs, and if necessary, he will install your own pedal or saddle. If needed, you can arrange luggage transfer with the bike company. Your luggage will be safely transported to Budapest and will be waiting for you when you return your bike. Visit Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, and explore its 18th-century city center. Then, cycle through Szigetköz, the largest island nature reserve area in Hungary, known for its forests, and small zigzag river branches. Ride through the settlements of the Danube Bend: Esztergom, the largest basilica and the heart of the Catholic Church, pause at Visegrád, a former royal seat and explore Szentendre, a town renowned for its artist colonies and galleries. Finally, return your bike to Zedbike bike shop in Budapest, situated at Astoria.

Travel along Andrassy Avenue to Heroes' Square, the City Park and see Szechenyi Thermal Bath. Take a ride through Inner-Pest's streets, passing by St. Stephen's Basilica. (only 4-hour option) Explore Liberty Square to learn about 20th century history and stop by the last Soviet Memorial in the city. Ride to the Parlament, from the bank of the Danube you can enjoy a the panoramic view of Buda Castle District with the Royal Palace the Buda Hills. Take a short ride through Margaret Island and on the Buda side, experience the scenic bike path along the Danube Bridges, including the Chain Bridge and Elisabeth Bridge. With an electric bike, you can ride up to Buda Castle with ease and take in the stunning views of Pest and the River Danube from the Fisherman's Bastion and admire the beauty of the Matthias Church.
