From Agadir or Taghazout: Essaouira Day Trip with Transfer

1. From Agadir or Taghazout: Essaouira Day Trip with Transfer

Your day-long adventure begins as you head north from Agadir to the former Portuguese city of Essaouira, passing isolated beaches, the palace of a Saudi prince, and the village of Taghazout along the way. Once known by its Portuguese name of Mogador, the city of Essaouira is a citadel with a prestigious past, occupied by various civilizations since prehistoric times. And famous for its Tyrian factory that once supplied Rome with its legendary purple dye, Essaouira is a cradle for artists of all types. Upon your arrival in the city, embark on a tour of the port and watch as the fishing boats return home. The Bab El Marse port not only has its Sqala canons on display, but it offers amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Medina. Travel to the Media itself—a UNESCO World Heritage site—and go inside to meet celebrated marquetry inlayers and cabinetmakers. Stop in at the Women's Cooperative manufacturer of argan oil, and then enjoy some free time exploring the alleyways of the Medin, strolling along the endless beach, or testing out some fresh fish at a local beachfront restaurant.

From Casablanca: Day Trip to Essaouira

2. From Casablanca: Day Trip to Essaouira

Get away from the hustle and bustle of Casablanca and visit the pearl of the Atlantic, the port city of Essaouira, known for its sun, beaches, and enchanting medina. After being picked up at 7 AM from your hotel or riad in Casablanca, head towards Essaouira via the scenic Safi coastal route. Drive for about 4.5 hours and feel free to request a stop at any time to rest a little, drink something, or see a place that is not included in the itinerary. Arrive in Essaouira, and begin exploring this stunning example of Moroccan heritage. Wander through the historic streets and walk along the beaches.  The Mogador Island, just a few meters off the coast, lies in clearest of waters and its moderate waves and the surroundings make it one of the most popular beaches in the area. Discover the real essence of the city at your own pace with approximately 8 hours to spend as you wish. At the end of your day, return to Casablanca where you will be dropped off back at your hotel or riad.
