You can easily explore the Medina on your own as its streets are aligned opposite each other, unlike every other maze-like Medina in Morocco. Should you insist on one, your driver will help you hire a local guide. First, you can visit the harbor with its fishing port and old Portuguese fortifications. You can still see medieval war cannons aligned in order and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Please continue to the Medina ( old city ) with its well-kept fortification dating to the 18th century. The major landmark of the Medina is La Scala, which was built against foreign attacks from the sea. You can continue to Bab Laalouj ( One of the main gates of Essaouira, then to the Mellah ( the old Jewish quarter. Base and Youseff were super friendly for the day. Badr was super knowledgeable and gave us all the stats and facts on the long drive there. Once you get to the location you’re left to your own devices so have a think about what you want to do there before to get the best out of the 4.5/5 hours there before the drive back.

it was really close to the city so it was fast on the way there and on the way back can we ride was nice although pretty fast just 15 minutes lunch is traditional tanji and you have the pool which is really nice if the sun shows up

Jalal was very punctual. He didn't extend the breaks unnecessarily. He is a very good driver and was friendly and courteous. The day trip was a great experience. We really liked the city of Essaouira.
