Enjoy a day in the German Alps on a full-day excursion from Munich to the Zugspitze. You’ll travel to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where you’ll take a cable car up the 2962 meters to the summit of Germany’s tallest peak. The Zugspitze marks the international border between Germany and Austria. In fact there are lifts from both countries that meet at the top of the mountain. In addition restaurants and shops at the summit, there are also telescopes available. From the top you’ll have breathtaking views of the Alps which seem to stretch on forever. You’ll take a break for lunch at a small mountain hut, where you’ll also have lovely views over the peaks of the Alps and even into the Munich area. After lunch you’ll jump from Germany into Austria (no passport necessary). You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a beer in Germany’s highest beer garden! The final highlight of the tour is a round-trip ride through the mountains with cable-car and a cog-wheel train. After reaching the top of the Zugspitze by cable car, we spent some time exploring the historic old town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. We walked through its charming streets and historic old town center.

Riding the new cablecar, you will reach the top in just a few minutes. Breathe in the clear air and enjoy the truly staggering view of more than 400 peaks of the Bavarian, Austrian, Swiss and Italian Alps.  Dine at one of the peak's restaurants (vegetarian and Halal dishes are available) and have some fun bobsledding or take a walk on the perpetual glacial ice.  After descending back down the mountain by historic cogwheel train, your comfortable bus will bring you back to Munich.

Towering over Garmisch-Partenkirchen, we find the highest mountain in Germany: Zugspitze. At a height of 2962 meters (9,718 ft), it is also known for its two glaciers, the Schneeferner and the Höllentalferner, its ski resort on the German side and for having a train that climbs the inside of the mountain through a tunnel carved in 1926. The picturesque town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen has been an important part of the transalpine trade routes since Roman times. Zugspitze itself was first climbed in 1820 and skiers could only reach the glaciers when the train line was inaugurated in 1926. You will have the most spectacular view of the Alps available in Germany, all the way through Austria until Italy, if the weather allows it.

Join us on this unforgettable tour! After a short drive from Ehrwald, we start the hike on remote trails through nature and water conservation areas. We will have plenty of time to enjoy the fascinating landscapes. Through forests we reach the first lake, where various wild animals can often be seen. We continue over varied terrain to the second, somewhat larger lake. Here there are countless bays and small beaches that invite you to take a refreshing dip... after circling the lake we return to the starting point in Ehrwald.

Conclude your mountain tour with the beauty of the Ammergau Alpine landscape and the Plansee lake surrounded by mountains, before the next highlight comes into view – the imposing fairytale castle of King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein Castle at the foot of the mountains overlooking Lake Forggensee. Then fly over the Murnauer Moos and the dark blue Staffelsee and Riegsee to the colorful Osterseen before reaching the Fünfseenland. Pass the popular lake of Starnberg and enjoy the beautiful colors of the water, especially in the area of the Roseninsel.
