Zoo Miami: General Admission Ticket

Zoo Miami is the ideal place for an individual, a couple, or an entire family to spend a day. As a matter of fact, visitors can travel the world in one day! They will visit Africa, Asia, the Amazon, and Australia. Zoo Miami consists of 340 developed acres with more than 3,000 animals and over 1,200 plants and trees planted in such a way as to mimic the animals’ natural habitats. Guests will be able to have animal encounters, meet the keepers during scheduled Meet the Zookeeper talks throughout the day, and much more. They will enjoy jaguars, lions, tigers, orangutans, elephants, the Wings of Asia Aviary (the largest Asian-themed aviary in the western hemisphere with hundreds of free-flying birds), gorillas, chimps, koalas, tree kangaroos, frogs, snakes, meerkats, and more animals than could be listed. At the Amazon and Beyond exhibit, you will experience a rainforest with jaguars, anacondas, bats, venomous snakes (behind glass exhibits, of course), rare frogs, harpy eagles, and a 48,000-gallon aquarium. Be sure to visit our newest exhibit Florida: Mission Everglades! Here you’ll have the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of the incredible animals that call Florida home. You’ll be sure to see alligators, crocodiles, a bald eagle, and river otters! You may even have a chance to ride an “airboat” on the Lostman’s River (for an additional fee)! Upgrade your visit with a lunch basket with fries. Choose between a burger, chicken tenders, deli wrap, hot dog, BBQ pulled pork, or handcrafted salad. Get a souvenir cup with a fountain drink and a 10% discount on gifts from the shop with this option. And the Playworld Playground is a great place for kids to burn off some of that excess energy. Half jungle, half water park, they can stay dry or wet. Zoo Miami has food and drink concession stands throughout and a beautiful gift shop where you can buy that special memento that will bring back wonderful memories of Zoo Miami!

The zoo is quite large, so we rented a bike for 5 people. 69 dollars for 3 hours was quite steep. But we were able to explore the entire zoo in 4 hours, which is usually very tiring with small children's legs and ends in displeasure. The enclosures are usually very large, so a quick look is not enough. Highlights for us were the elephants, the crocodile in the tube and feeding the giraffes.

The zoo is beautifully laid out. You get the feeling that the animals are doing well and are being kept in a species-appropriate manner. We were here for the second time and were impressed each time. Feeding the giraffes was a great experience and we had a lot of fun with the rented covered bike. The children were very happy about the water playground. We would love to come back!

Make sure to ask the staff about the encounters and feeding opportunities right away. You'll miss an amazing opportunity otherwise, and we missed out on having a chance to feed and brush a Rhino! but overall, the staff there is incredibly kind and approachable. It also takes you much longer to do as its a big area, so plan for around 4-5 hours of straight walking.
