Things to do in Zagora

Our 2-day desert trip from Marrakesh was a great experience! Our driver Badr kept the mood high with great music and energy. We crossed the Atlas Mountains, visited an argan oil cooperative, and stopped at Aït-Ben-Haddou, though we couldn’t enter due to filming. A local guide showed us around before lunch (130 MAD for soup, main, and yogurt, water not included). After about 6h of driving, we reached the rocky Zagora desert, where our new guides Houssain and Ismael welcomed us with camels and led us to the camp. Sadly, bad weather meant no sunset, but we had tea, a nice dinner, and music inside. Chatting with our guides about their families and culture made the experience even more special. After breakfast, we climbed the only dune, rode back, and drove another 6h with stops at a kasbah, the Atlas Film Studio, and lunch (120 MAD incl. water). Badr’s energy and music made the drives fun. Highly recommend—fair price, no forced purchases, and a great way to feel the country’s vastness.
