Four lucky guests got to share a three hour tour of Georgetown with Neka of Blue Fern Travel. Neka started with a history of Native American communities along the Potomac River, trade routes, up through colonial times. We visited four farm to fork authentic restaurants for sampling various ethnic food - potatoes and egg with Turkish spices, soup, freshly ground flour thin crust pizza, delicious meatballs, gourmet olive oil with fresh baked bread, falafel pita with marinaded vegetables and stellar tahini, finishing with an impeccable crème brûlée. Neka narrated each food course with ingredients and preparation process. She answered our questions with great enthusiasm. Neka takes pride in her community and it shows. Our Washington DC - Taste of Georgetown tour was a great way to learn about the area while tasting the local cuisine. A fabulous afternoon.

There was a variety of high quality, delicious food from various cultures, and the portions were generous.. We were stuffed by the end. Our guide definitely knew the history of the area and clearly informed us of that. She was very personable and friendly and well prepared! Having only 8 people on the tour made it feel more personal. Our group was my family (Grandma, that’s me, daughter, son-in-law, 20 year old grandson and 17 year old granddaughter.) We all thoroughly enjoyed it!

The tour was good because we had a great guide who had a lot of fascinating historical tidbits and was more than willing to answer our questions. The food selections were tasty and varied. The price was a little steep, but the food was paid for and the restaurants were welcoming. I recommend this tour and hope that if you go get are lucky enough to have Soniqua as your guide.
