Oahu: Shoreline Restoration Tour w/ Native Plants & Animals
Leave a positive impact and make Mother Nature smile by participating in restoring one mile of the North Shore shoreline with a medley of native plants that prevent erosion and rebuild lost sand dunes. On your 45-minute tour, you and your family will learn about native shoreline plants, their intricate root systems, and how they symbiotically work together to make the perfect shoreline. You don't need any tools; garden gloves are provided. The greenhouse is full of native plants; find your favorite plant, and your guide will tour the property with you and find a perfect home. We suggest you bring a hat, suntan lotion, and dark glasses. This tour includes your family's admission to the “Meet the Farm Animals” program. Meeting the Farm Animals program is exciting and fun for kids and adults, allowing them to meet the tame and cute animals up close. The animals include sheep, goats, pigs, turtles, tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, mini-horses, puppies, and ducks. This program makes for great family photos you will treasure forever. This tour is tax deductible for the tour price from North Shore Stable's 501(c)3 nonprofit organization called Ola Kapukapuakea. This program also provides one-year free family membership in the North Shore Stable's non-profit called Ola Kapukapuakea; this organization provides a home for unwanted farm animals on Oahu, offers free community events, and scholarships for children who want to learn traditional Hawaiian farming and livestock raising.
