Polaria was really interesting able to get close to the seals and the fish tanks. Guides were friendly and informative. We travelled with a friend who is a powered wheelchair user. The building was really accessible and he got around easily. However the hand rail height for the seal enclosure and the large fish tank were right in his eyeline. Staff in reception and the shop spoke amazingly good English. They gave us really good advice about navigating the public transport system in Tromso. Well worth a visit!

Full description

Bring the whole family along to the Arctic Experience Center of Polaria in Tromsø. Become fascinated by ocean life through educational films, interactive exhibits, and animal encounters. Discover one of two places in Europe where you can see bearded seals up close.

Walk into Polaria to discover the unique life in the Arctic Ocean. Gaze at a variety of fish and crustaceans from the region, as well as two bearded seals and three harbor seals, and witness live feeding and training sessions.

Our brand-new interactive Exhibitions showcase up-to-date research done in the Arctic by Scientists at the FRAM - High North Research Centre for Climate and the Environment. Learn about how all life is connected, and how your actions can have a positive impact on the environment.

Experience our 3 different films at the Panoramic Theater: "Svalbard - Arctic Wilderness" (Duration: 14 minutes), "Northern Lights - A Wonderous Experience" (Duration: 9 minutes), and "Behind the Scenes" (Duration: 11 minutes).

The ticket is valid all day on the booking date, and you choose when to arrive within our opening hours.

Opening times summer 1 June to 31 August:
Daily 10:00 - 17:00

Opening hours from 1 September to 31 May:
Daily 10:00 - 16:00

Seal training and feeding every day:
10:30, 12:30 and 15:30
