Tromsø: Aurora Borealis, Campfire, Hot Meal, Arctic Tour
Join us on an Arctic experience to spot the Northern Lights! Your night begins in our shop for hot drinks and a meet and greet with your guide for the evening, who will explain the plan for where you will have the best chances to spot the lights. Please note: We do offer full flexibility and transparency around the weather conditions, so please scroll down further to read more. Once ready to depart, your guide will escort you and your group to our luxury Mercedes Sprinter where you will meet your professional driver and set off on your adventure! As you drive through the pristine Arctic landscapes, your guide will keep you entertained with fascinating facts about Northern Norway, fun stories, and some of the science behind the aurora. Upon arrival at the perfect spot for the night, you'll gear up with the provided thermal suit and disembark to set up camp, where you'll then enjoy a freshly made hot meal around a campfire under the starry sky, all while watching for the lights overhead. In total the tour lasts between 5-7 hours based on where we need to drive, and upon returning to Tromsø, you'll be dropped off safely at your hotel. If you're staying outside the city centre, we can also arrange a taxi service to drive you home. Why choose Northern Norway Travel? We at Northern Norway Travel understand…the weather here in Tromsø can be very intimidating and unpredictable, making it challenging to know when the best night is going to be to chase the northern lights. After all, if you’re making the trip up to the Arctic circle, you want to do everything you can to make sure you actually see the aurora! But don’t worry, our Northern Lights Experience comes with a policy of transparency, helping to ensure that you have the highest chance possible of witnessing the aurora borealis on your visit. And while we cannot guarantee that you will see the northern lights, we can give you the tools you need to make an informed decision about the evening of your tour. Here’s how it works: On the morning of your tour, we will contact you at 9:00am with an update about the weather forecast for the coming evening. Should the conditions be poor across the entire region, and you are sent the corresponding update, you are able to request a rebooking (based on availability) or cancellation and a full refund for your tour up until 12:00 on the day. Please note though, the weather changes quickly here in the Arctic, and it isn’t uncommon for the forecast to completely change in a matter of hours. In addition, we do not cancel the tour unless the driving conditions are dangerous, because even on the nights with a ‘low chance’ due to the weather, we do tend to get very lucky and see some incredible aurora displays! But rest assured, with this policy, you can book with us confidently and with minimal risk, knowing that we will do our part as your Arctic Memory Makers to help ensure that you see the northern lights and have an unforgettable experience.
