Be amazed by the cliffs, which average a height of 1,000 feet, and were first inhabited in the 9th century by a group of hermit monks who lived on the rock towers Today 6 monasteries remain out of the original 20. Views of the entire valley from the magnificent rock towers, and the peace of the surroundings, make this a unique place to visit. On the way back to Athens you’ll make a short stop at the monument to Leonidas, the King of Sparta who died in 480 B.C. at the famous Battle of Thermopylae.

The tour was very well organized and offered a nice mix of famous monasteries, remote caves, and a Byzantine church. The tour guide was particularly memorable: he was extremely friendly, well prepared, and shared many interesting details without ever overwhelming us. His knowledge of the history, culture, and religious significance of the sites was impressive, and he conveyed everything in an understandable and pleasant manner. The sunset over Meteora was a beautiful end to the tour. Overall, a worthwhile tour, especially if you want to learn more about the background.

Definitely an unforgettable trip! From the bus ride itself—with an excellent vehicle and a guide who is highly knowledgeable about both the ancient Greco-Roman world and Orthodox Christianity, sharing important facts related to the places we pass by. The included hotels are excellent and punctual upon arrival (which may depend on traffic). Breathtaking landscapes and plenty of culture to absorb. I highly recommend it!

Trip was amazing, U will visit many wonderful places and have a chance to take many breathtaking photos. Katherina was our guide who conveyed us many interesting informations from current time and the past. At the end we had enough time to enjoy sunset view on 5 out of 6 monasteries. Highly recommended especialy for families and couples. Best regards Kasia & Karol

When I booked, it said that the tour was in Spanish. However, the tour guide only spoke English. For Spanish, I had to download an app (and have a connection), which I found strange. The "audio guide" was only mentioned when the "other conditions" were revealed, which led to confusion.
