Spend a day in the capital of the historical region of Transylvania, the city of Sibiu. There you'll admire one of the most beautiful medieval cityscapes in Romania, as evidenced by the city's title as "European Capital of Culture". On the drive down, you'll find out more about the Saxons roots, their colonization in Transylvania and their cultural impact on the country. In Sibiu, you'll start off by seeing the city's walls and the three main squares. Then you'll visit two of the most important churches. Climbing up to the top of the Council Tower will give you a beautiful overview of the old city. In the afternoon, you will take a short excursion from Sibiu to visit two villages that seem to be stuck in time: Cristian and Sibiel. Here, the population lives from what it produces locally and horse-drawn carriages are a daily occurrence. You'll visit the fortified church in Cristian and then you will visit the glass paintings museum in Sibiel. In the afternoon, you'll head back to Cluj-Napoca.

If you travel to Bucharest and have just a little time to discover Romania, this tour is the perfect way to visit some of the most interesting sites, including the southern part of Transylvania. Day 1 BUCHAREST–SINAIA–BRASOV–SIGHISOARA (309 km) Pick up in the morning from your hotel. Prepare to leave behind the region of Wallachia and step into the legendary land of Transylvania, the country beyond the forest where many myths were born and time still flows slowly for those living here. On the way, you will stop at Sinaia, a very famous mountain resort known also as the “Pearls of the Carpathians”. Here we will visit Peles Castle, the former summer residence of the first Royal couple of Romania, King Carol 1st and Queen Elisabeth. Considered one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, the construction is impressive thanks to the architectural style and decorations, but most of all thanks to the beautiful interior design and the modern facilities for the last half of the XIXth century (electricity, vacuum cleaner, electrical elevator and central heating). Here you will also find out the story of the Royal couples in Romania and their important influence in the history of the country. The next stop is Brasov, Kronstadt (“the city of the crown”) under its German name. You are now officially in Transylvania! In Brasov, you will have lunch in a typical restaurant and enjoy a lovely walk on the narrow cobblestone streets of the old city center. You will see The Council Square, The Council Tower, and the famous Black Church, the largest Gothic construction in Eastern part of Europe. In the evening, head to Sighisoara for dinner and overnight in the medieval citadel. Do not miss a short walk in the citadel and admire the medieval buildings at the light of the lanterns. Prepare to step back time! Day 2 SIGHISOARA–BRAN-BUCHAREST (329 km) After the breakfast, you will start the day by visiting the citadel of Sighisoara (UNESCO Monument), the only medieval citadel in the Balkans which is still inhabited. You will find out the story of the citadel, you will see the well preserved walls and towers of defense and admire the medieval houses aligned along narrow old streets. The highlights of the citadel are: the house where it is said that Vlad the Impaler (known as Dracula) was born, the Clock Tower (on the top of which you can take some beautiful panoramic pictures with the citadel), the Covered Stairs and the Evangelical Church. In the afternoon, you will head to Bran and visit Bran Castle, which became so famous thanks to the legend of Dracula. Here you will find out how this legend was born and why Transylvania is until nowadays related to it. A friendly tip – some garlic could come in useful during the visit! In the evening, return to Bucharest and drop off at your hotel.

Today, head west driving parallel to the Carpathians. Your first stop will be in Sibiu, where you will join to a 2-hours city tour and will discover the main cultural objectives such as the Evangelic Church, the Liar’s Bridge and the Council Tower etc. Have some free time in Sibiu. In the afternoon we will drive you to Balea Waterfall, from where you can explore the spectacular Transfagarasan Road. Optional it's worth it to take a cable care ride from Balea Waterfall to Balea Lake to have a better view. Arrive in Brasov at the hotel where you will check-in at around 19:00.

Escape the chaos of Bucharest on this full-day tour to Transylvania. Following a hotel pick-up, travel through Carpathian Mountains to the mountain town of Sinaia, where you will explore the medieval Peles Castle. Continue to beautiful Sinaia Monastery, an excellent example of late 17th-Century architecture, and famous for the magnificent art it contains. Journey to Bran Castle, famously thought to be the home of, and inspiration for, Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula. After a late lunch, we drive to Brasov were you will enjoy the best sites of old Brasov, including Council Square, Council Tower, Weavers' Bastion, the Black Church, and more. The Black Church is a perfect embodiment of the Gothic reputation that surrounds Transylvania. For those who enjoy more history, there will also a pass by the Schei Romanian District with its first Romanian school in Transylvania and St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Return to Bucharest through the Carpathian Mountains, arriving back in the city at approximately 8 pm.

In this one day trip a pickup from hotel is planned to be done. Private transportation is provided with a personal car or with a rented one. First visit will be done to Hunedoara where the Corvin Castle will be admired from outside and inside. Lunch break will be done in a Hunedoara downtown restaurant. Then the UNESCO monument, the fortified church of Calnic will be visited. The last activity will be the walking tour in Sibiu downtown where citadel walls will be admired, together with some citadel towers, bastions, and the medieval buildings from the three main squares of Sibiu: Piata Mare, Piata Mica and Piata Huet. Transfăgărășan Adventure: After exploring Sibiu, embark on a thrilling journey along the legendary Transfăgărășan Road, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Built as a strategic military route in the 1970s, this engineering marvel winds through the majestic Făgăraș Mountains, reaching an altitude of 2,042 meters (6,699 feet). Main Attractions: • Spectacular mountain road – Stretching over 90 kilometers, the Transfăgărășan climbs to 2,042 meters, offering jaw-dropping views at every turn. It was famously called “the best road in the world” by the hosts of Top Gear. • Bâlea Waterfall – One of Romania’s tallest waterfalls, cascading from a height of 60 meters, surrounded by unspoiled alpine landscapes. • Bâlea Lake – At the highest point of the road, discover Bâlea Lake, a mesmerizing glacial lake. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will leave you with unforgettable memories of Romania’s most famous road, before returning to Brașov in the evening 5. Return to Brasov After exploring the Transfăgărășan Road and taking in the stunning views of Bâlea Lake, your journey back to Brașov will offer more scenic landscapes as you descend from the high mountains. Estimated Duration: The drive back to Brașov typically takes around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on road conditions and stops along the way. Day 1: Bucharest – Curtea De Arges – Vidraru Dam – Transfagarsan Road - Sibiu (430 kilometers) This tour begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Bucharest. Start your journey with a stop at Curtea de Arges Monastery, an important pilgrimage site in the southern part of Romania located at the foot of Fagaras Mountains. During the visit, you will also be told the amazing legend associated with the building of this monastery. The visit will be followed by a stop for lunch at a traditional Romanian restaurant. After lunch, you will reach the beginning of Transfagarasan Road and enjoy a short stop at Vidraru Dam, an impressive engineering feat, being the first arch valley dam in Romania built during the Communist period. These days, it is a favorite place for people passionate about extreme sports. Driving along Vidraru River, you will leave behind the region of Wallachia and head to the region of Transylvania. On your way to the next stop, Balea Glacier Lake, take in gorgeous landscapes and amazing mountain scenery as you cross the longest tunnel in Romania. Surrounded by the stunning mountain peaks of the Fagaras Mountains, Balea Lake will be the perfect location for some beautiful photos. Continuing your journey through the northern part of Transfagarasan Road, the tour guide will tell you more about its construction and how Transfagarasan Road came to be considered the most beautiful high altitude road in the world by British “Top Gear” in 2013. By the end of the first day, you will reach the city of Sibiu, one of the seven German medieval citadels in Transylvania. Spend the evening in Sibiu. Day 2: Sibiu – Cozia Monastery - Bucharest (280 kilometers) In the morning, enjoy breakfast at your hotel in Sibiu. After breakfast, the tour guide will lead you on a short walking tour through the old city center of Sibiu, where you will see the Large Square, the Small Square, Huet Square, the Council Tower, Brukenthal Palace, the Liars Bridge, the Stairs Passage, the Evangelical Cathedral, and hear exciting stories about a town that was declared a "European Capital of Culture" in 2007. On your way back to Bucharest, you will also make a stop at Cozia Monastery, a valuable monument of Romania’s architecture and culture erected between 1386-1388 by the ruler Mircea the Elder. In the evening, arrive back to your hotel in Bucharest.
