Tamsui Historical Museum, also known as the Tamsui Historical Folk Museum, is a museum located in Tamsui District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. The museum was established in 1978 to preserve and display the history and cultural heritage of Tamsui, a former port town located at the mouth of the Tamsui River. The exhibits at the Tamsui Historical Museum cover a wide range of topics related to the history and culture of Tamsui. Some of the key exhibits include displays on the indigenous people who originally inhabited the area, the arrival of the Spanish, Dutch, and Chinese settlers, the development of Tamsui as a port town during the Qing Dynasty, and the impact of the Japanese colonial period. Fort San Domingo is a fascinating attraction with a rich history that attracts visitors from all over the world, which has a long and interesting history that spans over 400 years. It has been used as a trading post, military fort, consulate, and military barracks. The Custom Officer's Residence is Built in the late 19th century, the residence was used by British customs officers who were stationed in Tamsui during the colonial period. Inside, visitors can see intricate carvings, ornate woodwork, and beautiful stained glass windows.
