A great day visiting pompeii and mount Vesuvius Pompeii is amazing .., you literally walk the streets and imagine yourself 2000 years ago! The lunch was pretty naff .. we were told pizza would take too long so go for pasta or salad . We had one of each and they were both terrible. Mount Vesuvius is done independently so you’re really only paying for transport. Having said that the tour guide at Pompeii was excellent and the transport was very efficient and well organised so I would recommend.

Upon arrival at Pompeii, your expert guide will take you on a tour through the remains of this UNESCO world heritage site remarkably frozen in time for almost 2,000 years.
Hear stories about The Forum, Thermal Baths, Lupanare, Greek Theater, and plaster casts of the bodies of Pompeii people.
Following a typical Naples lunch of pizza at one of Pompeii’s cafés, you will then be driven close to the summit of the mountain that destroyed it. From there, it's just a walk to the lip of the crater.
The only active volcano in continental Europe, Vesuvius has erupted many times, but it was the destruction of Pompeii and its surrounding towns that made it the most famous.
Climb to the top, and walk around the crater, taking in the atmosphere of the smoking mountain. Enjoy the stunning views over the Bay of Naples.
Return to Sorrento, where you will be dropped off at your hotel, the cruise ship, or the railway station.

Before booking I thought this (and other similar trips) were expensive. Now it's complete I think it was worth every penny. The day was well organised, easy transfers, clear instructions and professional staff. The Pompeii tour guide was great, informative, funny and full of interesting facts, she really brought the city to life. The tour was more comprehensive than expected, with lots of different stops and things to see. Exceeded expectations.
