It served as a residence to the Dukes and Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg. The Castle dates back to 973 and has undergone changes with time. Walk in the gardens of the Schwerin Castle which were designed by Peter Joseph Lenné and Theodor Klett. The gardens host events such as concerts every summer while offering beautiful views of the Castle in the background. Admire the beautiful Schwerin Cathedral dating back to the 12th century. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint John. Here, you will see the Church tower which stands 117.5 meters tall and its stained glass windows. Initially, it was built in Romanesque style, however, was later rebuilt in Gothic revival style following damage to the building due to fire.
