Alvaro was an incredible guide. He was able to navigate both Spanish and English extremely well. We never felt rushed and he was able to pick up on what each person wanted to know more about. The driver (I unfortunately don’t remember his name) was the smoothest driver I’ve had in most of my South American travel!
I had an amazing experience. We had wonderful weather and our tour guide Francisco was super friendly and knew a lot about the places. In comparison to what others have written, you are not “forced” to rent winter clothes. It’s the first stop and a great offer, but you don’t have to. Yes, it was very cold (around 3°C), but from around 9am on it wasn’t freezing cold anymore, thanks to the sun. If you have enough clothes to wear in an “onion layering” kind of way, renting out clothes isn’t necessary, as long as you also have a thin rain coat and pants, which especially protect against the wind and from getting wet from the snow, which I highly recommend. Yes, there’s also a longer stop at a restaurant, but you can also sit outside, enjoy the sun and bring your own snacks, which I also did and was perfectly fine with. In the end, all of it was absolutely worth it, the early start pays off as we were always leaving when most people when just arriving.
