The Sumo experience was really good fun, the your guide took us around the area, explained the history and helped us to identify which fighter was which. she was very well versed in the sport and history which made all the difference. would recommend to anyone visiting Japan at the time of one for the tournaments.

My group enjoyed the tour more than we expected. The guide did an excellent job explaining the rules of Sumo and the reasons for the actions of the wrestlers. He answered all of our questions and encouraged us to ask anything we wanted. He pointed out when interesting events or matches were going to occur. We enjoyed the matches themselves as they are much more fast paced than typical US wrestling matches.

Full description

Experience the excitement of Japanese sumo wrestling with this admission to one of the three annual tournaments that take place in Tokyo. In a group, tour the stadium with a professional English-speaking guide, and learn about sumo culture and traditions while watching these massive warriors go head-to-head.

After meeting at the West Gate of JR Ryogoku Station at 2:15 PM, head to Ryogoku Sumo Stadium and enjoy the sumo games. Watch the ring-entering ceremony of the Makuuchi (Strong) Division and the Yokozuna (Strongest) Division at 3:40 PM and 3:55 PM respectively.

At 4:10 PM, the Makuuchi Division games start. See the sumo wrestlers try to force their opponent out of the ring or force any part of his body to touch the ground. Admire the results of the wrestlers' diligent training to become the highest-ranked wrestler. The tournament finishes at 6:00 PM.

  • For Lunch option - If you have any allergies and other dietary restrictions, please inform us at the time of booking or after making your reservation
  • For Entrance Assistant option: the staff will take you to the Ryogoku Kokugikan stadium, but the staff won't go inside of the stadium
  • Depending on the option you select, you will get 2F Chair seats (you cannot choose specific seats). Your guide will hand out the ticket on the tour date *On 1st floor, there are only box seats
  • Children 3 years old and under can enter for free, however, they will not have their own seat and will need to sit on your lap. Children 4 years and up must have their own tickets
  • Large luggage cannot be brought into the seating area
  • Those who choose 1F Box Seats can enjoy your own seating space without sharing with others
