Looking for a change of scenery from Edinburgh’s Old Town, then this could be the walk for you. Led by a local expert, this walk will take you through the New Town of Edinburgh with its outstanding Georgian architecture and will include visiting the Dean Village and Royal Botanic Gardens. You will see some of the city’s finest architecture and gardens, whilst being taken on the most picturesque routes rather than the standard tourist routes. We’ll start off from Charlotte Square, visiting parts of the New Town (1769) with its selection of historic landmarks and outstanding Georgian architecture. There will be plenty of unmissable photo spots including Circus Lane. We’ll then make our way to the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens where we will do a loop of the gardens covering some of the historic buildings and a selection of gardens areas. We will then follow the Water of Leith upstream, seeing further sites including the 19th century Dean Bridge, and St Bernards Well before arriving at the Dean Village. We will then explore the Dean Village to learn about its history, architecture and see some of the most photographable spots in Edinburgh. The total distance for the walk is 4 miles, therefore a moderate level of fitness is required to complete this walk. The walk will be at a relaxed pace and include plenty of stops to admire the architecture, gardens and historic sites.

Very good for discovering the city and getting your bearings. It allows you to have explanations on the history of the city. I recommend it, plus you can go down and up as you want.
