Discover some of Iceland's most popular destintations on this small-group afternoon tour of the Golden Circle.

Begin the tour at Thingvellir National Park, a historic area that is located on an active volcano. There, enjoy breathtaking views and plant your feet on the ground where ancient systems of law were once proclaimed.

Next, visit Geysir, sometimes known as The Great Geysir, a geothermally active area in southwestern Iceland. There, you will have a chance to view Strokkur, a hot spring that erupts boiling water 25 meters into the air every eight to 10 minutes. Admire the beautiful and otherwordly area, which is full of sulfurous mud pots, steam vents, cold and hot springs, and water streams.

Also, visit Iceland's most popular waterfall, the spectacular Gullfoss, which translates to "Golden Falls." Take in the beautiful scenery and don't forget to take a great photo to remember your wonderful afternoon.

Finally, visit Kerid carter lake, which is 3000 years old and 55 meters deep, and is surrounded by red rocks and flora.

I was blown away by the sights, scenery and sounds of this 'introductory' tour to Iceland on my first full day in Reykjavik! Everything about the tour was fantastic: Arni, our tour guide, was knowledgeable (and a bit cheeky!); there mini-bus was very comfortable; and the balance between time spent on the road versus time exploring the stops was terrific. To get the most of this tour, be prepared to be active as the best way of exploring each stop is to get out and walk it! Sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing is a must! Highly recommend this tour.
