It is one of the most spectacular and historic waterfalls in Iceland. The name means the "waterfall of the gods". Is is about 12 meters high (36 feet) and 30 meters wide (90 feet), and it forms a horseshoe shape that creates a stunning spectacle of water and mist. You will have about 45 minutes to explore the waterfall, take photos of this natural wonder and, if you like, grab a coffee at the Godafoss Coffee Shop. After admiring the waterfall, you will board the bus again and head back to Akureyri. Pick-up is at the harbour 1 hour after the arrival of the ship, and departure 30 minutes later. Because of its breathtaking beauty, the creators of Game of Thrones chose this location to film many scenes. Our journey takes us along Eyjafjörður, one of Iceland's longest fjords, to our first destination, the Goðafoss waterfall, which holds great significance in Iceland's history. If we are fortunate, we may witness a rainbow and our guide will provide guidance on capturing the best photos. Next, we will explore the beauty of Lake Mývatn, where we can appreciate stunning sights such as Skútustaðagígar, also known as pseudo craters. This unique phenomenon can only be found in a few places around the world, including Iceland, Hawaii, one in the Azores, and even on the planet Mars. Additionally, we will visit Dimmuborgir, an area of extraordinary lava formations. Finally, we will have the opportunity to visit the enchanting Grjótagjá cave to admire the hot blue river. The adventurous can even take a photo standing on two tectonic plates. We will visit the Hverir geothermal area, where many smoking fumaroles and boiling mud pots can be seen. Day 1: Golden Circle and South Coast The adventure begins with a pickup in Reykjavik then visit the popular Golden Circle attractions of Thingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss. Then make your way to the impressive South Coast where you will be greeted by the magnificent waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Explore Reynisfjara black sand beach with the glorious Reynisdrangar peaks and visit the basalt column cave before reaching your accommodation for the night. Day 2: Vik, Skaftafell, and Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon After breakfast at your hotel, journey further south towards the charming village of Vik. Make a stop at the unique and photogenic black sand beach of Reynisfjara. After visiting Vik, make your way to the famous Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon with its floating icebergs. The nearby Diamond beach is also on today's agenda. See icebergs that have washed ashore glistening like diamonds on the black sand beach, leaving you feeling like you just stepped into a movie scene. Your accommodation for the night will be in the South East area. Day 3: East Fjords Today is all about exploring the East Fjords of Iceland. We'll be stopping at Djupivogur fishing village. Afterwards we'll be spending the day in an authentic live history in the Wilderness Center that offers various activities, such as hiking, biking, horse riding as well as provides accommodation, restaurant and spa services. We'll be finishing the day soaking in a hot spring spa in the authentic bathhouse made from stones. Day 4: Studlagil Canyon, Myvatn, and Akureyri Drive through the wilderness of Modrudalur to make your way to the capital of the North, Akureyri. Today's highlights include a visit to Lake Myvatn, where you can enjoy a relaxing bath in the hot spring pools of Myvatn Nature Baths. In Jan–Mar 2026, Forest Lagoon replaces the Mývatn Nature Baths due to renovation. Finally, see the dreamy Godafoss waterfall. Your accommodation for the night will be at a country hotel near Akureyri.  Day 5: Whale Watching, Siglufjordur, and Trollaskagi The day starts for a whale-watching adventure. After your adventure at sea, we drive through the fishing village of Siglufjordur, which is a charming village rich in history, and the Trollaskagi peninsula, with some of the best ocean scenery you will see. Make your way to your accommodation for the night in the Northwest area.   Day 6: Visit the West Iceland region The day begins with a short hike up to Grábrók, a volcano crater. Stop at Deildartunguhver hot spring, the legendary waterfall, Barnafoss, (the Children´s Waterfall), and the Hraunfossar cascade. You'll also visit Reykholt, home to Snorri Sturluson, the Icelandic historian, lawyer, politician, poet, and the author of some Icelandic Sagas. On the way back to Reykjavik you'll drive around the scenic fjord, Hvalfjörður (Whale Fjord).

The tour starts at the cruise port in Akureyri and begins by driving along the fjord with views of the town of Akureyri, over the Vikurskarð mountain pass to the beautiful Góðafoss waterfall. From there, the tour continues across two plateaus to Lake Mývatn, where we will make several stops. You will see pseudocraters, bizarre lava formations, boiling mud pools, craters, and the warm water-filled cave Gjrotagjá, famous from the TV series Game of Thrones. The tour lasts approximately 8 hours; departure times are adjusted to the cruise ships' layover times.

A day at Lake Myvatn is a day to remember. The tour departs from Akureyri. The first stop gives you the best views over Akureyri and Eyjafjörður. After a short photo stop we drive on to Goðafoss waterfall. One of Iceland´s most beautiful and uniquely shaped waterfalls. Here we tell you why the falls are important in Icelandic history and give you enough time to explore the area close up. Then we head on to Myvatn. We stop at the pseudo craters for a short while before continuing on to Dimmuborgir. Dimmuborgir is a unique and very interesting area. Visitors are given time to walk among the unusual lava sculptures, pillars and caves. Our guides know everything about this area and will be happy to walk with you and explain how the area was created 2,500 years ago, as well as tell you a few folktales about the local trolls. After a lunch break overlooking Dimmuborgir, we visit the former nature baths located on the tectonic plates between Europe and America. The last volcanic eruption in Myvatn was in 1984 from the volcano Krafla and lava from this eruption is visible everywhere you look. Hverir is an area of bubbling sulphur mud pits and steaming vents, watch your step as you explore this unique area. You will have the option to go into the geothermal Forest lagune and soak in the picturesque nature lagune just on the outskirts of Akureyri. Note that entrance fee for the lagune is not included in tour price. During the winter months the frost, low lying sun and often snow add something extra to this amazing tour of Myvatn.

Snowmobiling In Mývatn, snowmobiling is our favourite way of traveling in the rough arctic conditions. Our guides grew up riding snowmobile on they’re farms. For us, Snowmobiling is a part of our lifestyle, we love to share our passion for snowmobiling and allow our guests to experience the incredible freedom that a snowmobile provides Itinerary: You meet your guide, who will help you find helmets and overalls fitting your size. We go over all safety features you need to keep in mind and show you all the tricks about driving and operating a snowmobile. Just before we go, your guide will go over the route and how we drive in a single formation at a safe speed. Your guide will then take you on a one-hour snowmobile tour with a few stops to admire the landscape. Driving a snowmobile through a vast landscape of volcanoes and the contrast between the black lava and white snow is an experience of a lifetime. Good to know: All drivers need to present a valid driver’s license and please note that operation period is dependent on season. Pre booking is required. Keep in mind that steering the snowmobile is significantly harder with a passenger on the back so we recommend single rides for beginners. A signed liability waiver is required prior to all tour departures.
