Puerto Princesa: Underground River Tour with Lunch

Puerto Princesa: Underground River Tour with Lunch

An underground river is a fascinating natural feature where water flows through subterranean passages, often formed by the erosion of rock. These rivers can be found in caves and karst landscapes, where limestone or similar rock is dissolved over time by acidic water, creating intricate systems of tunnels and chambers. Some well-known examples include: Puerto Princesa Subterranean River in the Philippines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features a long river flowing directly beneath a limestone mountain. The Caves of Lascaux in France, where ancient paintings were discovered, also have underground waterways. The Styx River in Greek mythology is often depicted as an underground river that separates the world of the living from the dead. Exploring underground rivers can reveal stunning geological formations and unique ecosystems, including rare species that thrive in the dark. They are often critical for local water supplies and can also play a role in shaping the landscape above ground.

Our guide was fantastic! Present but not heavy, prepared, polite, available, wonderful! The driver a bit reckless but very good😅 also always present and patient (we made him open and close the van to arrange the backpacks 100 times 😆) The organization was impeccable, we thought we would wait hours given the influx of people at the site instead everything went smoothly We highly recommend it!!

Shy was such a great tour guide and the day was really nice! I can definitely recommend it :) Tip: you get really ripped off with the 17€ for the zipline!! On site it only costs 600 pesos and you can easily book it there. I was very annoyed :/
