Natasha did an excellent job leading us through the tunnels and painting the history of the site. This was a lot of fun. I’ve done these “ghost” tours before, and they are generally cheesy, but this one was very interesting and more about the history of the place and Portland. Definitely recommend during a trip. Afterwards, after you enjoy a beer at a bar, ask bartender Ann to make you a spicy margarita - believe me, that alone is worth the trip. A walk through Portland history with beer and pizza topped off by one of the best margaritas in the world? Definitely worth the time.

Descend into an underworld beneath Portland on this guided walking tour of the city's Shanghai Tunnels. Learn all about the haunted history of the network of passages, then head upstairs for a well-earned craft beer tasting session.


Meet your guide to hear stories of Portland's dark past, and hear all about the resident ghost, Nina. Explore these atmospheric tunnels as you uncover the stories of how they used to be used to transport unsuspecting sailors to ships docked on the river.

Then, head back up to Old Town Pizza, located in the lobby of Portland's notorious former Merchant Hotel. A special beer tasting of award winning beer, before reflecting on your adventure while sipping on a delicious full pint.

  • Please mind that this is an old building with narrow stairs and doorways.
