It’s all about the guide - and Paolo was great. Super informative, led us well. A great experience. ALWAYS GET A GUIDE! FYI. There are free lockers at the gates to store your backpack safely. And there are a few water fountains in the site (though unmarked).

ABSOLUTE MUST. DO. TOUR. We are so so so greatful we booked this tour, as a family we were running late and we were accommodated for this. They let us have an earlier tour with the best guide ever - THANK YOU MARIO. He was funny, kind and so so knowledgable. Without a doubt the best thing we did this trip. There is no point going to Pompeii without a guide, he added so much historical background and information. Amazing. Worth the money!!!

The tour itself was fascinating. Really brought the place to life and gave some well needed context to a site that - wandering around in your own - might not make a lot of sense. The guide was clear and managed to fit a lot in to the limited time we had, and also gave tips on how to enjoy Pompeii on our own after the tour had ended. The icing for me was the fact that my wife and I managed to board a train that was inexplicably delayed meaning we’d be late for our original booking. With just a couple of text messages the team kindly moved us to the next tour an hour later, saving a lot of stress.
