A lovely experience! We started with the stunning Pisa Cathedral – beautiful architecture and incredible craftsmanship throughout. Next, we climbed the Leaning Tower (bags not allowed, but lockers behind the tower in the orange-fronted building are well-organised and staffed). The climb is steep but manageable with breaks, and the panoramic views from the top are breathtaking – we could see for miles on a clear, sunny day. At the top, you can sit near the bells and take in the moment. A great tip: use the Bounce app to store luggage at Vero Bistro Pisa (4 mins from the station) – friendly staff and very convenient. Pisa itself is full of charm, and food off the main roads is better and cheaper. Compared to London, it’s great value – large beers €6, spritzers €7. Highly recommended!

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, in the famous Piazza del Duomo (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987) of which it is the most famous monument for its characteristic slope, a symbol of Pisa and among the iconic symbols of Italy.

Beat the notoriously long lines and admire both the tower and the cathedral at your own pace. The Tower is the third oldest structure in Piazza del Duomo after the cathedral and the baptistery.
