Very enjoyable trip. Our guide Thorn was very knowledgeable, patient and caring. He modified the itinerary to suit us as we were hungry. Lunch was great at Kimly, seafood restaurant by the beach at Kep.. Thorn regularly check in with us for toilet breaks and ensuring they were clean.as the journey was long (~3h) before yhe 1st stop. He also helped us take photos and bought us coconut drink as well as arranging a beautiful horse cart ride. The driver was also very skilful and careful too. I will highly recommend this day trip for anyone keen to explore Kampot and Kep. Many thanks to Thorn and the driver for such an amazing and memorable experience!

It was amazing!! We had a very VIP experience, very well looked after all the way, lots of great knowledge and the sites we got taken to were stunning! Also, great to have someone take pictures of us that knew all the good angles! Highly recommend to take the day trip if you don’t want to travel there specifically, hits all the right bits in a short time.

Full description

You get to see everything in one day! All the main sites in Kampot and Kep, a lunch break in Kep Grab Market, and stroll along the Kampot riverside, absorbing the faded glory of the French colonial architecture. Before continuing to Kep, also known as Kep-sur-Mer, is located 15 miles from Kampot. This beautiful coastal area was once the favourite holiday spot for Cambodia’s French-influenced elite at the turn of the 19th century.

7:30am Pick up from your hotel in Phnom Penh Downtown.

8am – 10:30am - Road journey from Phnom Penh to Kampot: This morning, depart Phnom Penh for Kampot and travel towards the old French seaside resort of Kep with sightseeing en route. Situated on the south bank of the Teuk Chhou River, Kampot is one of the most charming places to visit in Cambodia. It was once a bustling trading port, populated mostly by Chinese merchants, the relatives of whom still live there today. In town, there are colonial shop houses whose architecture is characteristic of the 1900s. Visit the colorful and lively market where many bargains are to be found. Discover the French colonial and post-colonial Kampot, Chinese way of life, architecture and institutions.

10:30am – 11:30am - Continue to Phnom Chhnork, a large cave that contains a 7th century brick temple in remarkable condition, this hidden temple is a very sacred place for local Khmers. Continue to the coastal village of Kep. This quiet fishing village is the ideal place to relax.

11:30am – 12:30am - You’ll visit Kampot pepper farm.

12:30pm – 14pm - Today's lunch will be served at a beachside restaurant which is famous in the region for its signature dish of swimmer crab and Kampot pepper.

14pm – 15:30pm - After lunch and enjoy bit for free time to relax and explore crab market, we’ll continue to the little town of Kompong Trach. For a long time, this place was forgotten, as the civil war kept it off the map, but the new border crossing with Vietnam has seen a bit of a boom. We stop to visit the interesting cave temple of Wat Kirisan, built into the base of Phnom Sor. We travel through a small cave to a hidden chamber open to the elements, the sheer walls dripping with foliage. There are several hidden shrines here, as well as the Cave of a Thousand Rice fields, where locals claim the limestone looks like terraces.

15:30pm – 18:30 - Later this afternoon you will begin the return journey back to Phnom Penh we’ll arrive town around 6-7pm.
