The War Museum houses a wide array of weapons and military vehicles collected from Cambodian battlefields and will shed a light on the recent years of turmoil and explain what shaped the country you see today. Wat Thmei, the Memorial of Victims of the Khmer Rouge Regime, is another sobering reminder of the recent, turbulent past of Cambodia. We then head out to the streets on a guided mini city orientation tour and pagoda walk, before foraging up some more snacks and heading to a local family-run street stall. This dish is, arguably, the most famous of all Cambodian breakfasts. After a small walk we settle in for our final breakfast, where the produce is grown next to our table, a sign of the the future of Khmer cuisine. Cambodian cuisine debunked and devoured, more than a food tour, you will leave with a better understanding of Khmer culture, history and current affairs.

Pick up from your hotel lobby at the appointed time, jump on the back of your scooter with a driver, and drive to the meeting point at Old Market where you meet the tour guide, and enjoy a welcome drink. Afterward, we drive out to the popular ‘Street 60’ night market. Street 60 is where the locals go to entertain their kids in the sideshow alley or eat at the many roadside restaurants then wander down the main street looking at the many wears for sale – ranging from shoes and clothing to toys and 75c shops. Then we get a place to sit down where the chef will cook up some tasty fried water bugs, frogs, and crickets and if you’re up to it, taste them all and wash them down with local whiskey and beer. Next, the scooter cruise through the town to a local restaurant – the menu ranges from roasted beef to crocodile and many Khmer foods (if specific dietary needs are required, inform us before the tour, and in most cases, this can be accommodated) and enjoy the local entertainment – normally a local band. This concludes the evening’s tour. Time to scooter you back to your hotel – or – anyplace in the nightlife area if you want to continue by yourselves.

Your first stop, you will ride on the back of Vespa through Pub Street lane to Phsar Chas, the oldest Khmer market in Siem Reap, where we can experience the local way of life and taste some local fresh fruits also desserts. Next, we stop at the Khmer Ceramics & Fine Arts Centre is a unique and genuine thing to do in Siem Reap. You will have the opportunity to learn how to use a pottery wheel and Khmer carving tools to create Cambodian ceramics. You will be guided by a professional local artist who will demonstrate how to make beautiful Cambodian pieces. Then, we will visit the Wat Thmey Killing Field Memorial, which serves as a reminder of the atrocities committed in Cambodia from 1975 to 1979. During your tour, your guide will provide you with information on the history of the Khmer Rouge regime. Afterward, you will have a break for coffee or coconut before visiting Theam’s Gallery, the most unexpected hidden gem in Siem Reap. There, you will explore the elegant house museum displaying Cambodian artist’s paintings and sculptures, plus a tranquil garden. We will continue to visit Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm Shrines. The small enclosed temple is located next to The Royal Independence Gardens where the shrine is also situated. Get ready to dive into the captivating history of Siem Reap.
