MOMA is simply magnificent, a total must see. I could go every week and not be bored. In and around the area, don’t miss the Rockefeller building and rooftop, or Grand Central.

MoMA offers a panoramic overview of modern and contemporary art, from the innovative European painting and sculpture of the 1880s to today's film, design, and performance art. Six floors of art galleries in midtown Manhattan include highlights such as Monet's Water Lilies, Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, Matisse's Dance (I), and Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans, as well as contemporary work by Elizabeth Murray, Cindy Sherman, Ai Weiwei, and many others.

Know before you go

  • The museum operates daily 10:30 AM-5:30 PM and Fridays from 10:30 AM-8:30 PM. The last entry is 1 hour before closing.
  • Daily film screenings and art-making labs are included with admission. Entry to MoMA PS1 is also included for up to 14 days after your MoMA visit.
  • Families and children are welcome at the museum. The museum is free for children ages 16 and under.

It was great. Rooms were a little crazy when it came to finding your way around, but it was great! Friday 5:30-8:30 is free entry apparently and it’s extremely busy at this point, so go before to ensure nobody gets in your way!
