Private Unforgetable Full Day Tour in Lisbon

Lisbon is the capital of Portugal, located on the coast. From the imposing Castelo de São Jorge, the view encompasses the pastel colored buildings of the old town, the Tejo estuary and the 25 de Abril Bridge. Nearby, the Museu Nacional do Azulejo displays 5 centuries of decorative tiles. Close to Lisbon, there is a sequence of Atlantic beaches, including Cascais and Estoril. In the vast estuary of the Tejo River, this old and full of light, beautiful southern city stretches over its 7 hills along the river, with the Atlantic Ocean so close by. “City of many and varied people” as it was called when, coming from a distant new world revealed by the Portuguese Discoveries, throughout the centuries. In the 15th and 16th centuries, gold, precious stones, silk or the most varied spices from Africa, Brazil or the Far East arrived here. The marks of this pioneering globalization are present in architecture, gastronomy, traditions and language. But, above all, with centuries of interracial, cultural and religious coexistence, in the affability and tolerance of the Portuguese people. Mythically founded by Ulysses, the Greek hero of Homer's Epic, here the visitor will find real marks of the Roman presence (the Olissipo of Julius Caesar) or Moorish (the Al Usbana Islamica) and the Judeo-Christian culture. After the reconquest (1147) Lisbon becomes the capital of Portugal in 1255.

Full day tour of Lisbon In Privete (8 hours)

Capital of Portugal since 1255, Lisbon was once considered the jewel of the Atlantic by the Roman emperor Augustus, having been conquered in the Middle Ages by the legions of North Africa. Later, under Portuguese rule, it came to be considered the most important port in the world, as the departure pier for the Portuguese caravels that led, more than 500 years ago, the golden age of discoveries. Pastéis de Belém, Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries, S. Jorge Castle These are some of the must-see places on this journey, works of art that define the grandeur and history of the city of Lisbon and representative of the Portuguese nation.

Lisbon Tiles and Tales: Full-Day Tile Workshop and Tour

Lisbon Tiles and Tales: Full-Day Tile Workshop and Tour

The beautiful Azulejo tiles you see in Lisbon and around Portugal are the result of an art form with a long history in the country that began during the Arabic occupation of the Iberian Peninsula. You’ll begin this 8-hour tour heading south of Lisbon to the beautiful Azeitão region, where you’ll visit the well-known Azulejos de Azeitão workshop. Learn how the tiles have been made over the years, as old techniques are still used to replicate centuries-old art. After learning the basics about the art, you’ll have a chance to paint your own tile, which will be baked later and sent to your hotel in Lisbon, or back home if your prefer (cost of shipping not included). After a busy morning, choose where you’d like to have lunch with your guide: The fishing village of Sesimbra is just a short drive away. Return to Lisbon and, en route, admire some of the most impressive tile artwork around the city. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the lovely Madre de Deus Convent, dating from the 15th century, and home to the Azulejo Museum. The interior of the church is a Baroque masterpiece, considered to be a total piece of art, where all elements were designed to form the perfect whole. The Museum features an impressive collection of tiles, ranging from the 15th century to contemporary artists, and includes the most important international schools, as the Spanish and Dutch, among others. End the visit seeing some iconic pieces from Portuguese masters such as Bordalo Pinheiro, Raúl Lino, and Maria Keil, among others.

ease of use, excellent museum entrance, pity that private museums do not accept the card and the price is full, public transport needs improvement, there is little, infrequent and the stops are very far from each other and in addition the name of some stops does not correspond with the place of stop.

5 out of 5 stars

It would be great if it wasn't paper-based, because then you have to be very careful not to wrinkle it. For example, you could exchange it with an NFC phone. Anyway, the card is very good value for money, it's good for many places beyond public transport.

5 out of 5 stars

Super handy that you can make unlimited use of public transport. Even for the train to Sintra. Also nice that so many museums and sights participate in the card.

5 out of 5 stars

If you use the transportation and go to just a few of the museums on the list the card is very worthwhile!

Very easy to pick up at the airport and use on local transport and attractions
