The overall day was excellent and very well organised. Alex was most informative and kept us updated with what would happen next on our trip. We had 2 guides (one for each site) and both were excellent The lunch was much better than we had expected. It was described as a light lunch, but in fact was a light 3 course lunch with a choice of 3 main dishes. Although we were told at the time of booking that our tour may be bilingual, I was disappointed that ours was as I felt that we spent a lot of time hanging around whilst the same information was relayed in a different language
The day trip was fantastic. Alessandro was a fantastic guide and was very personable. As for the seperate guide at Pompeii, I felt a bit rushed for time and would’ve liked to see more. Herculaneum is excellent and they provide you with an audio guide to view the remains yourself. Alessandro was able to tell us about the history of Herculaneum, Pompeii and Vesuvius and the modern towns that exist today. I would probably skip the lunch option as it is not very good at all and the restaurant seemed to not care about their service or the quality of their food. Herculaneum was excellent - do not miss this!

Full description
On arriving in Pompeii you’ll meet your guide and then explore the ruins for around 2 hours. Your guide will show you the traditions and daily life of ancient Pompeii. You’ll see the large theater, the necropolis, the thermal baths, and some of the amazing houses that were owned by the richest residents. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, head to Herculaneum where you’ll have the chance to explore the ruins on your own. It’s possible to observe the daily life of the population here in even more detail than in Pompeii, as the mud and volcanic debris that covered the city preserved the structures and artifacts of Herculaneum.
