Mount Olympus: 2-day hiking trip to Mytikas Peak

We depart early on Saturday morning from Thessaloniki to Litochoro. After picking up the participants from other cities we start for the Gorcia forest location (35′). From there we start the ascent, following the route: Gortia – Petrostruga refuge – Museon Plateau. We spend the night in the refuge of the plateau "Giosos Apostolidis". The refuge has a kitchen that can offer a basic but very tasty (!!!) menu. The ascent to Mytikas (2,918m) is optional, planned for Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, if the weather conditions allow it and for those whose physical condition allows it. The last part of the ascent to Mytikas is accompanied by the group of the mountain guide and/or the climbing instructor and we use climbing equipment (helmet, belay, rope). Those who do not wish to attempt the ascent to Mytikas can choose a visit to the nearby peak of Profitis Ilias, a walk to the shelter of Kakkalos or relax on the tallest balcony in Greece! On our return we follow the route Muses’ Plateau – Zonaria – shelter of Spilios Agapitos – Prionia. Then the bus will pick us up and we will return to Thessaloniki, making the 3 same stops as our departure (One Salonica Outlet Mall, City Center (Galerius Arch) and Kalamaria (Chilis 12). This activity requires very good physical condition and is not recommended to people with myosceletical problems or fear of heights & acrophobia. Hiking route details: Saturday: 13km / +1700m altitude difference Sunday: 12.5km / -1700m altitude difference Max group size: 30 people

If i could give this 10 stars I would. Every part of the hike was perfect. Easily picked up from Thessaloniki and driven to Litochoro to meet the rest of the group and begin our hike. Although physically challenging the views are spectacular, being above the clouds with views of the Aegean Sea and towns below is like something out of a film. The scramble to Mytikas is not for the faint hearted but super worth it and made a lot easier thanks to the fantastic guides! Super knowledgable, infromative, funny and fill you with a lot of confidence. Staying in the refuge too you have to try the spaghetti bolognese or ragu and enjoy an omelette for breakfast. The descent the next day down a different mountain path was also beautiful. And once at the bottom the entire group had a well-earned drink and bite to eat together. Whether you're a solo traveller or part of a group I can't recommend this enough. Truly memorable experience. Thank you!

We had an amazing time doing the hike as well as just chatting and getting to know the guides and the other people in the group. It was well organised and the guides were knowledgeable and friendly, they worked very well together and were professional. We felt very safe and well taken care of. Anastasia, Tasos, Miltos and Van we particularly remember and had a lot of fun with. The other guides I’m sure were good too just that we had less interaction with them. The coach bus was very comfortable. The refuge we stayed at did not have shower facilities but the place was clean and well maintained. Spaghetti and soup dinner, and omelette breakfast were tasty with good sized portions. This tour was really good value with pretty much everything except meals provided. Highly recommend!!

The Hike itself was incredible! The tour guides were very friendly and translated into English as much as they could! The groups we travelled in were also a perfect size for company but to keep moving at a great pace! The hike was moderately difficult, as described by the instructors, but incredibly rewarding, physically, mentally and visually. The only issue to be aware of is that the refuge does not give you hot water to make your own food, and instead, you have to buy dinner from them.

Super professional but also very fun team of guides that will help you reach the summit! Very challenging but very rewarding and again: so much fun!
